Does anyone have one of the latest V10 handheld Dyson models?

We have an older model handheld Dyson (think it is a V4, bought 6 years ago). Unfortunately after long service, it is coming to the end of its useful life. I'm looking to replace it with another Dyson handheld and I'm wondering whether to go for one of the very latest V10 models or one of the older (and cheaper) V8 models.

Has anyone upgraded from an older version to the latest version and can say how they compare?

DM spent ages telling me about her new v10 hoover on the phone yesterday! At the time I was thinking kill me now but hopefully this will be of some use to you... apparently it’s much easier to empty, the dirt no longer gets stuck around the cylinder. It has 3 speeds and the medium one has loads of suction and the charge lasts ages. She’s extremely pleased with it hence why I got 10 minutes about a hoover after asking how her weekend was 😂

🙋🏻‍♀️I do and I LOVE it. Sooo much better than my old V6 that has been turfed upstairs and the stuff it gets out of the carpet is incredible!

I used to be such a Dyson fan til a few months ago. Then I took a chance and bought a Shark and OMG, so glad I did. The things a beast, suction so good it basically takes you for a walk Grin

TheGreatest the new V10 Dyson's are too. They're made to replace a big vacuum (I'm sure I've heard they're no longer making corded ones). This thing has the most incredible suction. I'd never have anything else now.

I'm so glad they're upping their game fucking cat hair

Great feedback, seems like the V10s are worth it.

We don't have pets (currently, plans to get a cat in a few months) but I have below bum length hair and sometimes my hallway looks like it has a hair carpet - the current Dyson doesn't cope with it at all and I hate dragging my Henry out of his cupboard - so coping with that, which the new versions sound like they will is a major plus.

What is a Shark and how much are they compared to handheld dysons (which are pretty pricey).
My Dyson “pet allergy version” blew up last week - So am back to using the old Miele which isnt as good I think.

A Shark is basically another handheld or corded variation similar to a Dyson.

The regular head does a good job as I see all the cat hair now inside! but it also comes with a pet hair attachment.

I thought the sharks were crap but I was proven wrong

It's amazing. Had it about 6 weeks, having upgraded from a DC59, about 5 years old. It's a bit heavier, but bigger capacity, longer battery life (haven't run it flat yet) and amazing suction. I don't like the emptying though, the catch is stiff and feels as though you are going to break it, then the dust shoots out so fast that half of it bounces back out of the bin. I still find a lot gets caught up inside the cylinder too, perhaps because DD and I have long hair and we have cats.

Another question for anyone with the new version, how well does it work on carpets if you have them? We have wood / tiles downstairs but carpet upstairs and it would be great to be able to run round the whole house with it.

A PP has commented it is great on carpets - it that everyone's experience?

We have one. Only thing is if you have a dog and likely to get hairs everywhere you need to empty it quite a bit as it fills up quickly. Other than that it's brilliant. Quick and easy to use.
