Can I ask what you do with your bath mat...

...if you can't stick it on the wall?

There's nowhere to hang it without it dripping all over the floor, if I leave it in the bath it goes mouldy. Only our toddler uses the bath so I need to have one.

Bathroom tiles are the non shiny kind so nothing sticks to them, any tips?

I hang mine over the towel rail and put the bath mat/towel on the floor underneath it until it stops dripping.

Lovelydovey · 10/06/2018 11:02

Sucker it to the inside wall of the bath.

Ifailed · 10/06/2018 11:03

boil wash it for 4 hours to get rid of the germs, ignoring the fact that every surface in the house is covered in them, along with air I breath.

Ifaild
Thanks for that- now I feel really stupid for not wanting to bathe my baby in mould. Mould is good for the immunity right? Silly me.

Stick it to the side of the bath! Lovelydovey you are some kind of genius 😀

I shake off the excess water then drape it over the side of the bath, with the suckers upwards, and the bath mat underneath to catch any last drips. Fling the windows open to get rid of any steam in the room.

PragmaticWench · 10/06/2018 11:15

Sticking it to the bath means it's more likely to go mouldy as the water is trapped between the bath/wall and the suckers.

AutoFilled · 10/06/2018 11:19

But why do you a bath mat. It’s the one that inside the bath right? I hate them, they just go mouldy. Two children and I never had one. Just bathe them in the bath?

Ancientmummyofwooooos · 10/06/2018 11:27

Yes- side of the bath- then when its about dry i put mine over the shower curtain rail out the way.

I use these in the shower and bath instead of a mat. They are brilliant and you can stick them to tiles after use and give the backs a quick scrub after use. I've had them for years.

Jojo maman Bebe do a fab machine washable bath mat - I chuck ours in the wash once a week and in two years we’ve not had any mound on it. After use I just leave it draped over the side of the bath, sucker side up with the bath mat underneath.

Amazon sell some grip stickers for the bottom of baths and showers. They’re barely visible, don’t get mouldy, and really do work. You don’t need many

pollysproggle · 10/06/2018 11:47

Thanks I think I need a new one/solution. I have a munchkin mat and the dots are falling off now. Washable sounds good!

I'd love to not have one at all but toddler never just sits in the bath. He's up and down, walking, sliding about.

I got rid of ours, it just got manky and mouldy and was just something else to add to the list of things that need cleaning.
Just supervise in the bath, make sure dc remain sitting down and you don’t really need one.

Eminybob · 10/06/2018 11:51

Ah ok, x posted, I see you have a wriggly dc, that’s a pain.

HyggeHeart · 10/06/2018 14:55

Once a week after I've cleaned the bath I fill it with hot water and 3-4 Milton tabs mix in the bath mat and all the plastic bath toys and let them soak. I also have a bathmat that's more plastic than rubber, if you know what I mean, which I've had for a year now with no mould xx

MissCherryCakeyBun · 10/06/2018 15:59

We sucker ours inside the shower side on the bath so that it's free hanging so it kind of hangs free

Only any good if you have one of the shower thingys tho

Eesha · 11/06/2018 08:13

Can I just ask how you’d clean yours, just realised mine always end up mouldy due to me forgetting about them....

DinoSn0re · 11/06/2018 08:20

If it’s not machine washable, get some Dettol anti mould spray, a scourer and an old toothbrush (for the little sucker bits)...and scrub!

readyforapummelling · 11/06/2018 08:56

Mine went mouldy once, I turned it sucker side up, filled the bath to just cover the mat and added a capful of bleach. Mould melted off, lesson learnt and now I hang it over the side of the bath when not in use.
