new bathroom - will it be a trauma ?

We're considering having a new bathroom fitted and I am a total neurotic when it comes to renovations in the home - we will ideally have the shower cubicle taken out and (reluctantly as it is very sweet but impractical) the cast iron claw footed bath removed and a bath with power shower over it put in instead, plus new basin and lav - and new tiling - everything else left as it is (we have nice boards on floor and we will do the re-painting... now, from your experiences, do thdey take everything out at once - will I be left without a place to wash ? how did you survive this ? Sorry to sound melodramatic but my ablutions are sacred to me !

When I had mine done they made sure that we had running water each evening, but the bathroom itself was unusable for days - however we also have an en-suite shower which we used instead.

Probably not much help to you. I guess you should ring the fitter and discuss it with him

We've just had ours done and we were only without a bath for one night. They take all the stuff out first but the first thing he put back in for us was the bath. Was a bit grotty - bare walls/floors etc but they were finished after 3.5 days. Maybe if you have yours done, you can ask them. HTH

we had the wall between separate toilet & bathroom knocked down to make a bigger bathroom. The builders moved, and temporarily replumbed, the old bath, so although we lost the shower, we could always have a bath (tho needed to clear out all the rubble each night!) As iota said, discuss with your fitter.
