Bloodstains and Bedding

I haven't committed a murder.
My period has been really heavy and I managed to bleed onto my bedsheets last night.
I've rinsed out what I could, sprayed vanish, put the sheets in the wash with a whitening sachet along with my usual detergent, but hanging out the sheets now, I can still see some residual stains.
What can I do to remove them? I have various things in the cupboard including bleach and white vinegar, but really need to have something that'll take the staining out as I've currently got a backlog of washing (machine broke, is now fixed) and few spare clean sheets.

If you are in desperate need to put the sheets on the bed do so once they are dry. I doubt there are many women who haven't at some point stained a bedsheet.

My DD has the same and used vanish bar rubbed into stain and a scoop of vanish powder in drawer.
Soak in cold water, don’t let it dry or stain will be harder to get out.

The vanish bar is brilliant on all stains, including blood. It’s quite hard to get hold of though
Stains will be harder to remove once they have been washed in warm or hot water

Use paper towel to dab some neat thin bleach on (assuming white cotton bedding) and leave in the sun. Works for me. If possible do this before washing and leave for a bit before turning the machine on, maybe half an hour ish.

Hang them outside. Chances are the stains will be gone by the time you get them in. If not, wash and hang outside again tomorrow. DH has psoriasis, so some bit of him is always cracked and and bleeding on the sheets, so I deal with this often. I rarely have to wash them twice. The greasy marks from his ointments are much more of a challenge.

Neat bleach or Stardrops as a last resort. I always spread an old towel on my side of the bed at that time of the month to hopefully avoid this scenario.

For future reference, dump a load of salt in cold water and leave them to soak before washing them as normal. Works a treat.
