Flypapers

Does anyone know if flypaper really works?

Whenever I’ve seen one hanging up they always look pretty disgusting but if they really work I want to try one near my kitchen bin (in this weather if everyone is out and so no one sprays the flies we can come back to find quite a few – even if we empty the bin daily).

I am thinking of putting the fly paper inside an old mailing tube I have in order to hide it from sight. It could just stand behind the bin, but I want to know if it will draw the flies away from the bin before I try it.

I bought some from B@Q - I can’t remember how much they cost, but 8 for about £3.50ish, I think. They do work, but I’m not sure they would be anything like as effective in a mailing tube.

They do work but they are very messy and even though they are just flies i think they are cruel too.

Yes they work, but are very, very messy.
DD got one tangles in her hair. She has a lot of long very thick hair! It was traumatic.

They work great. Covering one up though would stop it being effective. They look grim but are a much better alternative to fly spray or chasing them round with a swatter. I use them at the back of the kitchen every year when the flies try to come back.

Thinking about it, they are so sticky I doubt you’d get it in a mailing tube anyway. I had a job to put one in an empty bin liner because it took on life of its own and stuck to the bag.
