OK - I have a dilema - what would you do????

DS2 is currently asleep in the chair, DS1 is at school and a friend is taking him to the afterschool service for me (as DS2 has chickenpox so I can't go) so he's not going to need picking up until 4.15-4.30ish.

I have lots of housework that needs doing - been putting it off due to the (now constant) pain under my ribs due to DS3 having lodged his feet there and not seeming to have any intentions of moving them until he's born LOL

Do I

  1. Sit at the computer (as I am now) and do nothing at all today except for the bare minimum (ie cook dinner, tidy kitchen up, bedroom routine with the DS's)
  1. Get off my ar*e now and start pottering (or should that be waddling ) around doing bits and pieces
  1. Sit on the computer until it's time to get DS1 (or until DS2 wakes up - although he's quite happy to watch TV and play on his own for a bit if he does) and then does some housework once I've picked DS1 up????

I've gone for option 1 today as I'm knackered after finishing a major job. Soooooo guess what I'd suggest?

shonaspurtle · 16/05/2007 14:45
  1. Definitely. Take a break & be good to yourself.
talcycharlesandeddy · 16/05/2007 14:46

Oh, no.1
Most definately

elsieanjoanne · 16/05/2007 14:46

oh be good an try do it now leaving it till later will most likely mean it wnt be done! good luck, would you like a hand?

singingmum · 16/05/2007 14:48

having done nothing all dayafter haring round to be ready for dd's7 b.day yesterday am going to say option1
We all deserve at least 1 off day a week

fannyannie · 16/05/2007 14:50

problem is with no.1 is that's what I've done for the last couple of days and I'm likely to do more as my EDD approaches .

Definitely no 1. Make the most of it while you can.

LostPuppy · 16/05/2007 14:52

The house needs cleaning ladies, and you could bake a cake for your DH to come home to.

fannyannie · 16/05/2007 14:55

lol Lostpuppy - would you like to go to Morrisons (in the rain) for me to get the ingredients and I may consider that one (the cake) - unfortunately I can't go as

a) it's raining
b) DS2 has chickenpox
c) I can't bare the thought of waddling down their again today

Although having now wasted 10 minutes reading your answers think I may actually go and potter around - I'll probably feel better for it - I don't really like sitting in a messy house (not that it's ever really clean - but it's usually 'acceptable') and there's always that sense of achievment at the end of finishing a job...................isn't there????

just a quick update.........so far I've done.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING - well I made myself a coffee........

Good for you Fanny

When is your baby due?

fannyannie · 16/05/2007 16:13

05/06/07 - I think I'm going to go with option 2 though after I've picked DS1 up - feeling slightly 'nesty' ATM............

You rest as much as you can, it is not called LABOUR for nothing.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 16/05/2007 16:15

Agreed.
Just rest if you need to.
Try doing bits and pieces as you are around the house rather than deciding on 'cleaning time'. It makes it much easier to cope with.

Mercy · 16/05/2007 16:17

Completely agree, SHerlock.

Blimey, where on earth does the time go? It seems only yesterday you posted when you first found out.

Feeling 'nesty' eh? Hmmm....

Good luck and best wishes!

Twiglett · 16/05/2007 16:18

what's 'bedroom routine'

fannyannie · 16/05/2007 16:19

PMSL Twig - not what you're thinking (we're sleeping in seperate beds so that we both get an equal chance of a decent nights sleep as I'm fidgetting so much LOL) - meant bedtime routine

fannyannie · 16/05/2007 17:23

ok, ok, ok - I've been back 1/2hr now - and I really AM going to go and do some housework

OP posts:
fannyannie · 16/05/2007 19:58

well - since my post I have

Polished all of the living room (it's actually a through lounge/diner but with an obvious 'split' in it, pulled the sofa and 2 chairs out, cleared out toys from underneath and hoovered under them, cleaned the fireplace out (haven't used it for a while but ashes still left in there and the tiles on the hearth were a bit mucky so I gave them a scrub), hoovered the rest of the floor in the lounge, cooked the dinner and put the boys to bed

I'm now off to.

Tidy the kitchen up (including washing the grill pan which is still "soaking" after dinner 2 nights ago ), hang up the clothes that I washed earlier, eat my dinner and then sit on my ar*e
