I live in a 3 bed semi detached. Not huge but decent size. I just can't seem to keep it clean! I've just ordered a handheld cordless vacuum for my wooden floors and sofa, but am desperate for any super nifty tips. 12 weeks pregnant and am slightly concerned about how hard it's going to be with kiddos on board!

Thanks all Smile

Having the house tidy makes keeping it clean a shit tonne easier. Its the tidiness that is the secret. If you don’t have to move anything to clean then you can whizz round easily and you get into a routine so you get quicker and quicker each time. as long as it’s tidy when you start cleaning!

I do a once a week all over clean but throughout the week I am constantly doing little bits of cleaning and tidying.

My weekly all over goes like this

Kitchen: dishes into dishwasher, fill basin, spray counters, wipe counters and table including moving caddies, toaster, microwave, fruit bowl etc. Basically everything on the counter gets moved to clean under. This is also what happens a couple of times a day but I include it in my weekly all over because I have to start in the kitchen otherwise I don’t feel like I’ve done the whole house. My weekly clean happens straight after breakfast so the kitchen needs done anyway.

Dusting: includes kallax and radiator cover in kitchen, living room window sills, tv and tv unit, side table, piano and over mantle mirror, hall table, bedroom window sills, desks, dressing tables and shelves. I also use this chance to lift anything on DC bedroom floor and put where belongs but they are pretty good at keeping tidy. I strip the beds of each room while I’m in there dusting and stick them in the machine when I go back down.

Bathrooms: family bath, En suite and downstairs toilet. As you would imagine, spray basin, loo, bath and shower and wipe and rinse. Bleach down loos, empty bins, change hand towels. I also dust window sills and mirrors.

Hoover all over then mop and I’m done.

4 bed semi. Takes about an hour and a half to two hours depending on my energy levels. The kitchen floor takes ages and I hate doing it so sometimes I take a break and go back to it later.

It really makes a difference to be a lengthy to just clean and not tidy so get into good habits of putting everything away as you go along.
