Pressure cookers.

I need a new one. Mine is over 30 years old, prestige hi dome. But it's on its way out.

What do people have that's more lightweight and good for cooking lentils etc in. Not looking for one for stews/whole chickens because we've got the slow cooker for that.

I've tried googling reviews and my head is spinning. So I thought I'd ask here. One that's got enough pressure to cook lentils, black chick peas etc without boiling them for hours. Ta Smile

I have a WMF perfect plus set (large and small pan, same lid). It cost a lot (think around £90) when I bought it, but works really well and can be used as a normal pan too. MUCH prefer it to a slow cooker. I use it daily so been worth the price.

I have an electric one - an Instant Pot Duo 6L. I was too much of a wuss to have a stove top one before. You just programme it and walk away until the timer beeps then release the pressure manually or leave it to depressurise. It also has other functions - I make yoghurt in mine and it has a sauté setting so you can brown things in it, etc. The only problem with it is that they are taking ages to restock in the UK. I think they are damaging the brand tbh as people are buying other makes instead, like the Pressure King Pro.

I also have an instant Pot. It has revolutionised my life .

ferriswheel · 28/04/2018 08:32

Tickle

Why? Is it really not just kitchen clutter

lynmilne65 · 28/04/2018 09:09

just bought pressure king pro. Awesome

SluttyButty · 28/04/2018 09:46

Hmmm so maybe I need to be looking at the electric all in one things judging by your responses.

ferriswheel I, like Tickle love my instant pot. It is so easy and quick. If you haven't thought to plan ahead, you can get a good meal on the table in less than an hour from start to finish. Perfect when you're tired after work and feel as though you can't be bothered.

InstantPot! Read the hundreds of 5* reviews on Amazon.com and then buy one.

CraftyGin · 28/04/2018 18:56

I have a One Pot that is find very useful.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 28/04/2018 18:56

I just bought a pressure king pro too! Makes the best chickpea curry ever! I've even made rice in it and it came out good (would never try that on a stove top one). It also has a slow cook/keep warm setting which has is very useful.

I got mine on Amazon (much cheaper)

CraftyGin · 28/04/2018 18:56

I meant Instant Pot.

mybrainhurtsalot · 28/04/2018 19:04

Another instant pot lover here. Between that and the airfryer, I barely use my cooker.

BodgingThisMumThing · 28/04/2018 19:10

I have a pressure king pro, (basically an instant pot) it’s changed my life and I love it.

MadisonAvenue · 28/04/2018 19:13

Another recommendation for Instant Pot. I love mine, wouldn't be without it. I use it most days.

ChishandFips33 · 28/04/2018 23:03

When my Prestige bit the dust I replaced it with an IKEA one.

They have two sizes I believe

Use it every week for something or other

dontticklethetoad · 29/04/2018 00:57

ferriswheel if it was just kitchen top clutter, I wouldn't be singing it's praises, would I. Neither would anyone else on this thread....

I can make a beouf bourginon in about 45 minutes start to finish. The beef practically melts. Did it with dumplings as well (just put on for an extra 5 minutes at the end).

Have also made risotto in it!
