Cheese graters

Hi everyone. My first time on this thread and I see how old lots of the posts are so not sure if this will get read. Anyway, onwards ...

What sort of cheese graters do people have? I had a small one, just an almost flat one with a handle, as I resent how much space they tend to take up for one function, but it broke. What do you think of the ones with the box to catch the cheese? I'm fed up of buying kitchen equipment that I think looks like a really good idea, and when I've had it 6 months I realise it's a very bad idea.

Thanks for info.

Ive got one with the container to catch the cheese. It comes with a lid. Got it from IKEA about 7 years ago and it's still going strong! I find it very useful.

A Mouli type one - with a handle that turns a drum.
Would never be without it - makes grating cheese a doddle. Can't stand box graters.

I’ve got the Ikea one like mrsoutnumbered too. It’s amazeballs. It also has a lid, to keep grated cheese fresh if you grate too much.

I have the kind that shaves off my DH’s knuckles. Love that thing.

I have a couple of microplane graters, one coarse, one fine. They were expensive but I bought them over 10 years ago and they are still razor sharp. Very easy to clean and nothing that can easily break on them.

I second the microplane graters, they are fantastic! We use ours most days for parmesan, goes through the dishwasher fine (take the rubber handle off if you want to save it though)
