Washing machines!

Our washing machine is buggered and I'm in desperate need of a new one. My current one is a beko and I'm sure the one I had before was a beko too and neither can cope with our wash loads. I'm looking for help on what machines people have and are reliable. Any ideas if candy are any good? And what KG would be best for a family of 4/5. Heavy washing loads with a very messy nursery age child! Thank you! Xxx

I'm on my second Miele. The first lasted 18 years. They're not cheap but the Germans really know how to build them. For the US, they're considered small but I don't mind doing a couple of loads. The cleaning and cycle flexibility are fabulous.

Beko do a large capacity 12kg machine that is impressively cheap but gets good reviews.
I have a large family and have a 9kg bosch which has served me well for several yrs but i need a larger capacity next time so i am torn between the cheap beko or the ridiculously expensive samsung ( 14 or 16 kg capacity ! Swoons ! ) . It is well over a grand in fact some are nearly 2 000 ! But it does come with a 10 yr warrenty.
Was your beko any good ? I have a beko dishwasher which is fine. So interested to know if their 12kg washer is worth a try .

No @flapjackfairy don’t get the Samsung. I had the £1000 12kg one, from brand new to totally and utterly dead in 7 months.

6 engineer visits, couldn’t be fixed, massive fight with Samsung and got money back.

I then (stupidly) got the smaller 9kg Samsung, and it had a major repair just 2 years in, the PCB and motor both failed at same time.

The 12kg LG is very good though, same price approx as Samsung.

flapjackfairy · 26/04/2018 18:23

Oh thanks for that e1y1. I appreciate that. Cant afford to buy an unreliable machine.

rampantrose · 27/04/2018 10:36

I've had 2 bekos neither new but both came from family members who only lightly used them. Both died in 5 years so about 2.5years life out of each. Id never touch a beko again. I have an America fridge freezer that's beko too and if it wasn't insured that would be dead too after not even 12 months the circuit board and something else majour went wrong! Just don't trust the brand now! X

Miele or Bosch would both be good options. Miele if you can afford it - they’re bomb proof. Bosch aren’t as reliable but still a good choice as long as you avoid they’re entry level “Series 2” machines. Series 4 upwards are very good.

Here’s a few options:

Thanks for the links. Do you think they would be big enough for a family of 4 with a he'll of a lot of washing though as 7kg is only 1kg bigger than what I have and I'm doing so many loads it's unbearable!

From personal experience, I would disagree about Miele and would recommend that you check out reviews about their customer service.

EcoCleaner · 01/05/2018 22:38

fascicle I’ve had a Miele washer & dryer for 9 years and on the 1 occasion that I had to have Miele out to them (under warranty) it was over and done with within 48 hours

MotherOfBeagles · 01/05/2018 22:42

I've had my Samsung ecobubble for a year now and it definitely gets abused with baby stuff sheets dog towels dog blankets. You get the picture. I have a 9kg drum and it fills our washing line when hanging out lol I've have to buy another full set of pegs and another line to keep up with the washer 😂

fascicle · 02/05/2018 08:59

EcoCleaner Following an issue with my Miele washing machine, and with Miele customer service, I came across these reviews online, many of which are in line with my own experience:

Worth looking at if considering a Miele appliance.

This helped me x

I’ve got two Samsung add wash 9kg machines and absolutely love them, I’ve has two other Samsung machines before and had them for years they kept going and going so am surprised at the poster who didn’t rate Samsung as I’ve always felt they’re pretty reliable, they need to be as I have a child with special needs and gets in a bit of a mess at times so need reliability.

MissConductUS · 04/05/2018 19:44

The one time I've had to use Miele customer service here in the US it was fine. I wonder if the US service branch is going through the same IT upgrade problems as you've seen in the UK.

Namethecat · 04/05/2018 19:46

Had my Siemens for 10 years and survived 2 house moves.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 04/05/2018 19:47

We have the 12kg LG. It is the steam one that is the highest rated washing machine on Which (or was in December). I love it. Previously had a 9kg LG. Really rate them as washing machines
