Just asking for advice for a client...floor and clothes smell of urine and it's beginning to cause him social problems. Any ideas for best washing and cleaning strategies? Thanks.

Rug doctor do a urine spray. It's really good. Use it with my elderly cat (and you know how bad cat pee smells...).

They sell it in B&Q is about a fiver.

For clothes, put them on the hottest possible wash? Perhaps with some white vinegar in the drum?

Bicarbonate of soda liberally applied is pretty effective

Bicarbonate of soda is good for cat wee (can’t see a reason why it wouldn’t be good for human wee). For the floor, make up a stiff paste of bicarb with water and spread it into a layer on the affected area and let it dry out. (NB don’t use a vacuum cleaner to clean it up - i knackered my last hoover doing that, it gets into the motor!)

You need an enzyme spray for the floors. Washing with bio powder should help the clothes. Stick some zoflora or laundry cleanser in the fabric softener bit of the machine too

Would recommend Clorox urine remover spray. You can get it on Amazon (its a US product). It’s about £9.

Cold wash first got clothes. Hot water “set” the smell in. If the clothes regularly have urine he could do a cold rinse before the regular wash each time.
