Keeping new cooker clean

First post on this forum. Sorry for the boring topic.

We have a new (to us) freestanding range cooker. We inherited our old one with the house, and it remained resolutely manky no matter how hard we cleaned it. I'm determined this one won't go the same way.

So - how do you clean a cooker, and how often? M

Get those oven sheets in argos and cover the bottom of the oven in them. You can wash them in the dishwasher also but have a few and always keep the oven lined with them.

Agree with lucky stars - oven liners are great you pop them in the bottom and they catch all the muck you can then wash them and give your oven just a wipe over and you are done! They also do liners for hobs I've found these a bit fiddly so I tend to just spray a fairy and water mix on the hob as soon as I've finished cooking and then go back and wipe it off afterwards. I tend to give my ovens/hob a wipe over after each use to avoid any build up. Enjoy your new cooker!

Oven liners, eh? I'll give it a whirl...

And how often do you wipe down the oven? And what products?

Thanks!

Go for it OP you won't regret it! I wipe it down after each use or if I haven't had a chance with visitors etc at least once a week. I use fairy nothing abrasive- I used oven pride on my old cook fab stuff but brutal!

Thanks @mommybear1! This is what I love about MN - there's always someone to take the time to answer your questions, no matter how un-rock n roll!

I found out I made a meatloaf once that had to be cooked in a roasting of water that steam is your friend when it comes to keeping oven clean. After that every couple of weeks I’d stick a tin of boiling water in the oven on a high heat for 30 - 45 mins and the. Wiped down.
