Any one have one?
Am having new kitchen and they are strongly advising this, Im just a bit worried that with 3 kids,3 dogs and 3 cats, it will be hell to keep clean and show all the marks.
Have quarry tile type things at moment which whilst not the most attractive things are really easy to clean and dont show every mark.

I have a travertine floor.

beware there are different types and what you see in the shop you may not get delivered 'because it's a natural product!'

mine has quite a few pits in, some biggish. they are filled with grout but to be perfectly frank it's not really what I wanted. the ones laid in the showroom had considerably fewer pits, however I'm now stuck with it. don't get me wrong, it IS lovely and people have oohed and aahed over it, but I just hoped for fewer pits. some travertines are smoother.

as for keeping clean, it is sealed after laying. it's early days for me regards the cleaning as it's new!

If its sealed you can steam clean it. But tbh with pets you are better off with other stone tiles (get grey/lime grout - doesn't show up the dirt).

WMMCHOC-what sort of other stone?

good point about the gaps - we have one and we had to really think about which stones went where. Some were darker than i imagined too.

I would go for limestone next time. Get it sealed properly and it will be ok to keep clean. However, with all pale floors, you will need to clean it often.

am looking at this, sort of muddy pawprint colour!

Miggy, umm tbh I don't know what it is - I went to Topps Tiles and picked it...hang on a second....ooh found it - limestone. I can't get a direct link to the tile but it's limestone NS09 - POLISHED LIMESTONE at www.toppstiles.co.uk (they are v nice - bloody expensive but though). What we did is we have those on the floors, similar ones on the walls with travertine window sills and travertine feature tiles on the border on the bits of the wall that have tiles (we have the same in our new bathroom and conservatory). Oh and the limestone ones, you can cut to make a really nice - easily cleanable - skirting board run round the room.

wmmchoc-thanks for looking that out
will investigate!

i have travertine, dont go there, easy to clean but you will get chips in it which need filling.
