Can anyone recommend one for me please? Our Dyson is heading for the bin and we aren't buying that brand again.

We have lounge, hall, landing, stairs and another room carpeted. Every where else is either laminate or Lino type floor. We have two cats and a golden retriever so wondering what people think about the vacuums which are marketted as good for animal hair collection.

We have just got a g tech air ram cordless one, after 2 broken dysons, a Henry and a morphie Richards cordless which was ok but not great.
It's incredible I LOVE it (my husband makes fun of how enthusiastic I am about the hoover!!!)
It's honestly great, we have carpeted rooms and rest is wood or tiles, it works great on all surfaces and we have a dog that malts like crazy and works so well on pet hair. We bought the separate hand held one too on an offer (only gripe is they aren't in one machine) but that is also great, I love it!

Good suggestion Boys.

I too have just bought a Gtech but have gone for the new GTech Pro which only came out in February this year - brilliant on all floor types and has great suction - but I know the Air Ram is terrific too.

OP, if you buy GTech goods direct online from GTech they are much cheaper than buying elsewhere. For instance, GTech Pro is £249 but if you buy direct from GTech themselves it is only £199 including free next day delivery. I would assume similar applies to the Air Ram.

Website is www.gtech.co.uk/

With a mixture of carpet and hard floors, you need either a cylinder that comes with multiple floorheads for cleaning carpets and hard floors OR an upright with brushroll on/off controls. You don’t want to use a vacuuming with rotating brushes on hard floors as these can scratch or rip the floor but equally you need the brushroll for removing pet hairs, fibres and embedded grit on carpets.

If you’re looking for a cylinder, I would recommend the Henry Turbo. Henry’s have been used in commercial environments for years because they’re so reliable and this one comes with the turbo brush for carpets.

If you’re wanting an upright, have a look at the Sebo Felix Pet. It has brushroll controls to switch between floor types. If you do go down this route, it’s worth buying the Sebo extension hose as this means you can clean to the top of the stairs without lifting the vacuum.

Apologies for the nonsensical also known as auto correct gone wrong title.

Thank you everyone. Lots to think about. When I vacuum the hard floors I tend to use the tube rather than just push the upright.
