Mould and mildew in my LG washer.

So my housekeeper travelled for a few weeks... it usually gives me a good chance to check my appliances... low and behold I found black mould and mildew on the rubber door seal! After research I realised that door needs to be open all the time to avoid smell and mould ( I’ve told the temp who still closes it 🤬) I’ve tried vinegar and bicarbonate soda and running on hot cycle (hottest I have is 60degrees) still nothing... I’ve cleaned the drawer (which was also mouldy 😡) but the rubber seal is still the same. Should I change it? Any tried and tested methods I should attempt...my washing is LG truesteam
I’ve attached a pic for you to help me! Thanks 🙏🏼 🙂

That looks a lot of mould for it just be having the door closed,. Do you have any input over detergents or wash temperatures used? Lower temp washes hand/or the use of liquid based detergents are perfect for creating ideal conditions for mould and mildew growth.

Once the rubber seal has developed mould, it is notoriously difficult (if not impossible) to remove. You may have success with a dedicated mould/mildew remover she spray, the best one I have found is the one made by Astonish, but HG gets good reviews too, but I haven’t needed to use mould/mildew remover in my washer.

Also, your washer should go higher than 60; I had this same washer and it went up to 95 degrees, but it only allowed adjustment to that temperature on certain cycles (eg the non “eco”, synthetic, or fast cycles).
