Talk to me about mattress toppers

Hi I have been thinking about getting a mattress topper- I think it would benefit my nights sleep. Do you have one and are they worth the money? Any recommendations for types of mattress topper? Thanks.

I love my mattress topper. It is from Dunelm. I think it was £120 worth every penny

I got a factory second brand new off ebay for £17.99!!

We got one from John Lewis. About £200 but a lot cheaper than buying a memory foam mattress. However it isn't at all how I'd expected it to be. It's like we shoved an old fashioned eiderdown under the bottom sheet. Disappointing to say the least. And very hot (not ideal for a menopausal woman in the throes of hot flushes and night sweats Sad

Yes highly recommend OP! We got ours from John Lewis in their sale/special offers - I think it was about £80 (king size) - I was reluctant to spend the money on it, but it was so worth it. I've had a dodgy hip since pregnancy and the topper relieves it a lot. Btw a friend told me she had a memory foam one and it was really hot and uncomfortable - don't know if that's a common problem though.

I highly recommend it. We got one for DS as he is now 10 but sleeping on the same cheap sprung mattress we got him when he went into a single bed age 4. I thought he would wet the bed repeatedly and that we would end up replacing the mattress quickly so bought the cheapest sprung mattress that John Lewis sold. But he didn't, so we just bought a topper. I think I soent about £120, got it on Amazon. It is really thick and he loves it. I had to then buy extra deep fitted sheets as it was so thick. He is also much warmer in bed.

I love our JL one (and it saves the mattress when small children are sick in our bed etc.). However the spare on I bought from Sainsbury’s is very plastic feeling and therefore I suspect you get what you pay for.

I have a feather filled one from the white company, can’t remember the price but it wasn’t cheap. I can’t see what all the fuss is about. The feathers all seem to bunch up in the areas you aren’t lying on and it’s a pain trying to get them spread out more evenly, I’ve never managed it. Give it a really good shake and you still end up in the same position it with feather bits all over your room. I think I’d rather pay more for a decent mattress next time round. I’ve slept on memory foam/latex beds before (cheap kind and really expensive) and I found them too hot and just a bit strange.
