New drier

We’ve just bought a new tumble drier and I’ve only used it twice so far. It’s a condenser. I see that I have to empty the water and clean the filter between each use. Firstly, does everyone actually do this or not?!

The main question is that, when cleaning the filter, the instructions say I have to Hoover the filter area, as well as cleaning out the lint. My hoover lives on a different floor and I will definitely not be lugging it downstairs each time! I’m wondering if I need to get a small hand-held vacuum to keep by the drier. Thoughts?

Mines also a condenser and the lights comes on to remove the water( it gets quite full) and yes i clean the filter too. It takes minutes to remove filter from drum and remove the lint and any damp lint from condenser box (once a month i do that) Why risk the build up and surely the appliance has to work doubly hard to dry wet things if a little maintenance isn't done.

I do the same as chun, after every use I remove the lint from the filter and empty the water. Then once a month I'll wipe over the sensor with vinegar and I shower the box to make sure it's completely free of lint build up.

Oh I meant to say I don't hover the filter every time, just use my fingers to scrape the fluff off and then hoover it monthly.

Chun, emptying the water and lint is easy and no issue. The problem is vacuuming each time. It doesn’t sound like you vacuum it out each time and I’m assuming your house hasn’t burned down because of it, so that’s reassuring!

Slutty, that’s really helpful - thanks!

I do the same as sluttybutty, remove with hands. Mines in the utility room, and only used when I'm at home. When i vacuum its not a problem to give a quick blast with the nozzle. The recent stories of fires for these appliances is enough to put anyone off allowing lint to build up! imho.

I think what I’ll do is clean by hand each time, then get the cleaner to run the vacuum over it when she’s in. So a proper clean once a week. If my house goes up in flames, you’ll all be named in the law suit 🤣🤣🤣
