How much fairy non bio powder to use?

I'm am reasonably intelligent and a good problem solver but can't seem to fathom the instructions on the packaging. Having googled it, it is apparent I am the only one that has this problem!

There is no scoop/measuring thingy in the box.
How much powder do I need for a standard 4-5kg wash, no heavy soiling in a hard water area?
Do I need to add water to it first?
And where do I get a measuring thingy from? Or are they trying to make consumers switch to the more expensive tablets/capsules by making the powder a pain to use?
TIA

www.supersavvyme.co.uk/offers if you put your details in here you can get a dosing device

I use Ariel in a big box, but it didn't come with a scoop either. I had used the liquid pods for years and years until I read on here that powder was better for whites. Which was verified by the Miele guy who came to sort out something a blockage in my washing machine.

Anyway I ordered a scoop from proctor and gamble I think it was online and I put 110 (I assume this is grammes but I have no idea) in every wash unless things are really stained. Everything comes out clean and fresh smelling. I over in a hard water area too.

I think there is a tendancy to use way more powder than we need to.

I also use a Vanish scoop with our Fairy. I suspect it's under the recommended amount but our clothes come out clean and the box last for ages. It doesn't really smell of anything but I've always assumed that's because our noses have become accustomed to the smell rather due to the amount of powder used. Hi

I put in 150ml/g seems to do the trick (minimum 40 degrees, found it doesn't dissolve well at low temperatures) then half a cap of Comfort Pure. Friends used to eagerly await DC's cast offs - gently laundered and smelling nice Smile

Yes I’d read this online years ago and cut powder down by half. 45-60ml (3-4 15ml tablespoon scoops) only now. The recommended minimum for Persil was about 85-110.

I use half the amount it says otherwise my expensive Miele washing machine doesn't rinse it all out.

I use a measure of soda crystals (the one for laundry comes with a scoop) and halve the quantity of detergent

Stepson insisted it had to be mixed with water! Pack confusing but I’d never looked at it! V glad to know I’m not alone ... or stupid!

e1y1 · 29/05/2018 01:31

No not stupid jellythedog.

It doesn’t need to be mixed with water, if you had to do that you may as well use the laundry liquid version and not bother with the powder at all.

mammmamia · 29/05/2018 07:47

I have always wondered about the dosing as well. I can’t get my head around the ml/g Blush
I ordered that scoop from them and I just put in one and a bit of that.
I also switched to powder after reading on here that liquid and tablets block your machine.

Omg your post was exactly how my wife and I felt this morning having not used powder in ages! Those instructions make no sense , makes it seem like you have to add water!

Z0mbie · 26/10/2023 06:33

I was also confused by the lack of instructions the pics on the box look like you mix with water before putting in machine!
