Cordless vacuum recommendations?

We've had the Dyson V6 animal, rubbish. The G-tech stopped working after a year.

I really don't want to pay hundreds for a vacuum because it's without a cord. Does anyone have a cheaper but good recommendation for a daily run around. We have 2 cats and cream carpet don't ask

There's a Morphy Richards for under £100 but reviews say the auction isn't great which is no good for 2 hairy cats!

I have a Shark, it’s fantastic. I have pets and it is great for picking up hair.

Glad you mentioned the dyson as was thinking about buying one. Have friends who have recommended them as very good??!!

The newer cordless Dyson's are much better. Love mine so much. I have black cats and it clears up their moulting hair easily.

I have a Dyson V8 Absolute and a Shark cordless duo clean.

We live in a reasonably big house. The downstairs is wooden floors/tiles and the upstairs is carpeted.

I find the Dyson fab on the hard floors (also ok on carpets) Very easy to use and effective. We extended our guarantee though as they are not the most durable and the spare parts are expensive. So far we've claimed for another cleaner head after 18 months.

The Shark is a newer purchase and is used for the carpets upstairs. This is even more powerful but more cumbersome. We bought a double battery model which I think is essential as each one doesn't last too long. The attachments are all very useful for various jobs.

If I just had to choose one, I'mnot sure which one I'd choose. They are both good at different things.

Glad the newer Dyson are better, the one we had was rubbish on hard floors just rolled over things broke them up and spat them out elsewhere, we had to get a replacement battery pack after about 9 months. It just wasn't good enough to run around daily.

The Gtech was good except on stairs but didn't last long, it's not as if I work them hard either just a quick daily runaround!

Shark is one I'm looking at but I'm not sure about the bendy bit. I find It's hard to trust online reviews.

I'm surprised you didn't trade the Dyson op, I've just got a V6 absolute and think it's great! We also have cats and I think it's particularly good on the soft furnishings. Saying that I'm still keeping my big Dyson as I don't think it's that effective for big cleans.

We also have a cordless Morphy Richards that you mentioned (yes, we have 3 vacuum cleaners now!) and I don't think it would be suitable for what you need it for. It's ok to keep upstairs to run around the bedroom floors which are laminate. The plus points are it can easily fit in small spaces and is really easy to take apart and empty and clean but it would not be suitable for a house with lots of carpets, especially cream ones!

We got a V6 in January, after several friends recommended the newer model. We have all hard floors and no pets.

So far, so good. I would never go back to a corded cleaner again.
