Solid Wood Floor - Can't Clean Properly

Hello forum,

I've fitted a solid wood floor at home. It looked very nice at first but because it's a natural wood product, with a very fine grain in places, I'm having trouble keeping it clean. Tiny bits of dust get stuck in the fine grain and no matter what I can do, I can't get rid of them. It means that parts of the floor are covered in a dull white bloom - particularly visible when the sun shines on it.

I've swept, hoovered, mopped. I've used water, vinegar and a couple of different types of special floor cleaning stuff, but nothing works. I've tried to get into the grain with a toothbrush as well but it's too fine.

Can anyone offer any advice on how I could clean this stuff up?

Thanks!

I haven't tried a steam mop. I'm tempted, but I'm worried that it might damage the surface of the wood.

If the floor has been vanished then it should be fine to steam mop After a really deep clean and hoover.

Is the floor proper planks of wood or is if it laminate flooring planks?

Thanks. Maybe I should look at a steam mop as a purchase...

It's proper solid wood flooring - proper planks of wood - not laminate (and not engineered wood)

Why can't you just mop it?

Mine is damp mopped twice a week with the method wood cleaner that smells like almonds.

We have original real wood parquet flouring herringbone pattern in our house.
We had in professional sanded last year as it was looking worn in parts and needed to look good again

I used to steam clean mine previously, but in a couple of places the steamer made a mark (think from the hot steam) and it went lighter colour. Be very careful please.

The guys the did it told me to only use a drop of washing up liquid and a micro fibre mop virtually dry. I got a vileda mop and bucket. No problems.
