Hi sorry if this has been done to death but couldn’t find anything recent on the search.
My Hetty hoover which has been great for 9 years has sadly died. So im trying to decide whether to replace her or go for a cordless. Old reviews seem to be good for the Dyson v6 there is a v8 now and the Shark.
Anyone have a cordless, would you buy it again or go back to corded?

I have a Dyson V6 animal and it’s far better than my big Dyson. If that dies then I’ll get another one or the next version. Couldn’t be without it now.

MrsJayy · 23/03/2018 09:48

I have gtech both of them I love them i will never go back to corded ever they are so light

Laucu · 23/03/2018 13:00

I've recently bought a cordless Shark, I think it's called Flexology abdcwas from Argos.

I love it and would never go back to a corded now! It's so much easier to whip it out and give the house a vacuum. I can also get the cobwebs and dust on the ceiling!

HeedMove · 23/03/2018 13:05

I bought a vax model numbers TBT3V1P1 over the shark and dyson has it has a stronger voltage and a longer battery life at 45 mins. I love it but still use my henry once a week. I find the vax doesn't suck up tiny little stones and spits them out. Not sure if thats an issue with Dyson and shark?

I am still trying to make up my mind.
I need something really light weight because I am struggling to lift things now.
I had to give up work because of my illness so I have to be really careful about the cost.
So I am dithering and the house is getting dirtier.
Watching with interest.

HeedMove · 23/03/2018 13:11

End id defo get one they are much lighter than a normal vac and so easy to use. I also use a vileda spray mop on my floors so I don't need to muck about with a mop and bucket. Makes hoovering and cleaning the floors so hassle free now.

backsackcraic · 23/03/2018 13:11

Dyson v6 battery doesn't last long so splash out on v8 if you go with dyson x

SluttyButty · 23/03/2018 13:18

Heed the Dyson does indeed pick up all the little bits and stones that my corded Dyson leaves behind. You’d be amazed what it picks up but yes the battery only lasts 20mins, but that’s enough for my house.

carrietwick · 23/03/2018 13:29

I personally wouldn’t recommend the Gtech Airam Mk2 K9 - if you have pets / young children it really doesn’t do the job well enough (repeatedly going over dog hair to try & pick it up) and takes 4 hours to charge. It’s fine as an additional hoover for a quick tidy up but that’s all.

squiz81 · 23/03/2018 20:28

I have a dyson v6 and i use a gtech at my parents house. I much prefer the dyson. It picks up really well. The battery doesnt last as long as the gtech but its easier to empty, lighter, more manouverable and more versatile.

Laucu · 24/03/2018 09:22

I'm sure I saw an advert on the tv last night for a half price Dyson.... sadly can't remember which shop as i was half asleep after / glasses of wine.

HavingaPanda · 24/03/2018 15:42

@Laucu the dysons are half price in curry's. Sharks are on offer as well.

Laucu · 24/03/2018 15:59

Ah that’s it! I was very fuzzy last night!

TinyTimsCrutch · 02/04/2018 18:53

Thanks everyone I'm leaning towards the Dyson V8 while its on offer. Does anyone know, is the difference between the absolute and total just the attachments?

OP posts:
OnTopOfSpaghetti · 02/04/2018 18:59

I have a Dyson animal which I love. As far as I could tell the only difference between the animal and absolute us that the absolute comes with a soft attachment for hard floors. I bought this separately from Dyson website as we have Amtico flooring in the kitchen and I didn't want to scratch it. But in theory the head that comes with the animal is fine for all floor types.
Be warned the first time we used it we couldn't believe how much rubbish came out of my supposedly clean carpets!

TheShapeofYou · 02/04/2018 19:05

Dyson V8 Absolute owner here and I love love love it (had a Henry before). Have had it over a year and rave about it to everyone. Have tiles and hardwood downstairs, Amtico in bathroom and carpet everywhere else so use all of the attachments. Brill for doing the cars too. Go for it!

TinyTimsCrutch · 02/04/2018 19:06

Thank you Smile

I've just signed Dh up for a very account to get an extra 10% off so got the v8 absolute for £318 Wink

Youradviceneeded · 02/04/2018 23:08

We have the dyson on v8 absolute and I love it. So does our cleaner, she even bought one for herself, she said that three of her clients had them and she liked using it more than any other vacuum. Now that's a recommendation!

ItsMsAtomicBombToYou · 02/04/2018 23:13

Probably too late but I'd spend the extra and get the V10. Longer battery life - 40 vs 60 minutes - upgraded motor etc.

TinyTimsCrutch · 03/04/2018 16:47

40 minutes is more then enough hovering for me Grin, adding want to pay an extra £100

Mines a cordless morphy Richards, was £99 about 3 years ago and still going strong! I Hoover daily with its and its fab. Funnily enough o tried most of them yesterday in currys as you can trial them..didn't like any but the £319 dyeing which is obviously way more than mine was! It's super light and easy to empty too.

TheShapeofYou · 03/04/2018 19:31

TinyTimsCrutch you won't regret it! We managed to get ours half price (So £250 as they were £500) last year as live near the factory and know someone who works there to get us one with their staff discount Smile

I only ever use mine on the Max setting, which lasts approx 7 mins. That's enough for me Wink I vacuum multiple times a day now though as use it as a dust pan and brush, cobweb cleaner etc.
