Bosch Athlet. vacuum Help

Hi,
Had our Bosch Athlet about a year and whilst I loved it to begin with, I’ve only used the useless hose attachment once because it’s so rubbish and cumbersome and now I’m having issues with it dropping bits every time I pick it up or lift it slightly.

It surely doesn’t need the brush section picking out/cleaning out after every use? It’s tiny bits of grit off the hard floor I think.

Any ideas how to stop it and has this happened to you?
I empty the container after every use or before if full.

Hi I have this vac and love it admittedly it can be a bit fiddly with the hose. I've not had the issue you mention and clean mine out after each use - could it be the filter or is these anything inside the actual tube which is blocking the stuff going up and when you turn the machine of it's them causing it to fall out as it's not been suctioned up?

Hmm. Thanks mummy bear.
I’ve actually not washed the filter in its entirety since last summer. That might be it then Wink

I can’t remember...it is just the sponge bit you can wash or the papery part too?

I do like mine but also find the grit falling out after vacuuming can be a bit annoying. I tend to finish the floor in the kitchen next to the bin and shake it out before I put it away.

I did have to wash all the filters last week as the brush stopped turning. You can wash all three sections, canister, sponge and paper bit. Just need to let it dry fully before replacing obviously.

I have this issue with mine. Soooo annoying if you've just hoovered, pick it up to put it away and all this grit falls out! We were going to return it but didn't get round to it in time and now it's past its warranty.

I thought the Athlet was brilliant, until I started having the same issue and loss of suction. I got rid and bought a Dyson instead.

Aha thank everyone. I’ve just washed them all...having seen the wash symbol on the papery bit.

Really annoying the grit thing.
I much prefer my animal dyson but it’s an upright Andrea really heavy to lift up spiral staircase to top floor.

DH said we should have got an animal hand held that hangs on the wall but I said no. ......he was right as usual.

You can wash the papery bit? That stops the blocking and dropping grit? Thanks everyone, off to wash it now. I like the athlet for pickup, good with dog hair etc but it’s a bugger to empty and does get this regular blocking problem. I much prefer the handheld Dyson I keep downstairs.

Well, having never used the Athlet on full power (number 3), yesterday, I blasted the lounge and kitchen and blimey, it’s got fab suction!

So going to wash filter often and use full power more often!

I only ever use full power! Grin

mommybear1 · 24/03/2018 11:37

Oh yes turbo all the way!! I was reluctant to go full blast at first due to battery time but I've found it lasts Grin

Flomy · 24/03/2018 18:48

I loved mine.
I returned it as it lost suction, Currys let me have a brand new one, I then used it on full blast on a thick new carpet with thick underlay. I cracked the handle in a clean straight break as it wouldn't budge on the carpet.

Currys let me exchange it again for a Shark, which is excellent.

I had my Athlet just under a year in May and it just stopped working. After 3 warranty visits from the engineer and all new innards including new brush head, the Athlet worked perfectly.
In early June, my Athlet warranty ran out, but in early August the brush head gave up again. I rang Bosch to enquire if they gave a guarantee on their work, i.e. maybe 3 months or similar. I was informed that whilst Bosch don't give a guarantee on warrantee repairs, I would have to pay for the engineer, but they would supply parts at half price. As the cost of the engineer is half the cost of a new Athlet and then I would need to pay for parts, I thought no, its not worth it so I'm thinking of buying another make. Has any one tried the G-Tec vacuum as it looks and sounds very good for the price.
