Best vacuum cleaner for dog hair

Sorry I've this has been asked to death, I had a quick search but all the posts that came up were quite old so I thought things may have moved on.

We currently have a dyson animal that's probably around 12 years old. It's not bad but quite a lot of the attachments have broken now and the handle has just gone so I think it's time for an upgrade.

We have wooden/tiled floors downstairs but carpet upstairs so it would need to cover multi surfaces. We also have a very hairy Labrador that sheds a small cats worth of hair every day so the hover gets used a lot! The dog hair drives me crazy so one that specialises in picking up animal hair would be preferable.

So does anyone have any hoovers that they would recommend, or ones we should avoid? Thanks for reading

Anyone? I know it's a dull question sorry.

We're considering the miele blizzard CX1 cat and dog,

Any thoughts?

The shark lift away is amazing. Best vacuum I’ve used. It was quite grim what it picked up on first use after years of using a Dyson.

acornsandnuts · 17/03/2018 17:44

And we have had a Meile before but the shark knocks spots off it.

Thank you, that's good to know, I'll take a look at the shark lift away

I just bought a gtechs and it is the dogs dodahs the handheld does the stairs brilliant

MrsJayy · 17/03/2018 19:25

The gtechs meant to say

whoscoat · 17/03/2018 21:43

Thank you, I do like the look of the gtec, I really want one as a handheld for quick clean ups, but I'm not sure a cordless would cut it as a 'main' vacuum for us iykwim. We have to hoover at least once every day because of the dog so I think it would end up always out on charge and that would drive me crazy as I like everything hidden away Grin

The battey is tiny and i run round every day downstairs and we have charged it twice in a fortnight i actually love it

whoscoat · 17/03/2018 23:45

Wow, that's pretty impressive!
There's so many to choose from, I feel like there needs to be some kind of vacuum rental scheme so you can try them out before buying Grin
I'm far more excited about getting a new vacuum cleaner than I should be, I don't want to make the wrong choice and end up disappointed, the good ones are all so expensive aren't they!

We had the hoover pet hair it was so heavy and not that great I am hopingbthe gtech lasts longer.

A Henry. Powerful, will deal with any clear up after doing DIY, and the power cable is long enough to do the hole house from one socket. I love Henry.

I have the shark lift away and a lab. it is way better than my old Dyson and marginally better than my old VAX. I vacuum every day and my issue with it is I have to empty it twice a day other than that it's OK.

WhenEnoughIsEnough · 19/03/2018 19:11

I cannot recommend Henry enough he is the best hoover I have ever owned. He does a pretty good job of hoovering up after my hairy dog.

UnderCaffeinated · 19/03/2018 22:38

I have a shark lift-away and an Alaskan Malamute who is just never quite done blowing his coat, and it's amazing! I do find I need to clean the filters out more than my mum does hers (she bought the same one as me, has 3 dogs inc a lab x retriever) but I think thats because my dog is on another level of hairy! I honest find it amazing and I have the pet turbo, which is fantastic for getting hair off of the sofas, coats and similar, a huge improvement on a lint roller!

Sebo X4 Pet, hands down.
