Are these all similar, or is there a brand you would recommend? I have some which are all getting very old, have no idea what they were called though.

I massively recommend these

I use them on quartz worktops and they dry quickly and leave no smears!

Thank you, they look really good and so cheap.

Related question - once you have used them, where do you put them while you wait for a hot/boil wash to gather? I don't know by like to put them in with the normal clothes as I do those at 40, so I end up with a manky pile of cloths by the washing machine, waiting for towels or sheets to be done. Kitchen is kind of small so wondering about how other people do it.

hmm....I just put mine in the normal wash - they do say "Machine washable up to 60°C"....I am not particularly fussed about boil washes etc Smile

I go cheap & cheerful and buy them in Aldi. Rather than wait for a boil wash, I soak them in a bowl of hot water and bleach. I don't mind the smell of bleach though. You could use Milton, also.

I have Lakeland ones, but trying to phase them out because they release microplastics when washed or rinsed, so unfortunately are part of the problem of sea pollution.

Ah. All very helpful, thanks. I get a bit squicked out at the germs on the cloths so definitely want to hot wash or sterilise them

Interesting about microplastics. Have been considering cutting up old clothes and towels for rags lately...

Never thought about them releasing microplastics, thanks purple

Don't use bleach with microfibre cloths - it causes them to lose the magic of the microfibres and basically become regular cloths...

Also no fabric softener which 'blocks' the microfibres.

Thanks Cali - I didn't know that.
