cleaning routine

Hi, yes I know cleaning and keeping on top of the house is something we all have to do. However, lately, I'm feeling very resentful of having to do this day in day out. Do it one day, yes it's there again the next day. No matter what i do, the house seems to become so dirty again so quickly. Sick of washing, the dishwasher and the kitchen floor! It's Friday night and the weekend is here. Yep, spend most of it getting the house back to some sort of order only for it to become a s**t tip again early part of next week.! Weekend is spent doing things I don't want to do and it seems to take me all day to get the jobs done. (maybe cos I'm stopping inbetween and doing Facebook, lol). Can anyone recommend anything to give me a bit more motivation to get things done and out the way. Is there like a cleaning app or something? Or a schedule? I have two teens and I'm thinking of roping them in a bit more, cos I'm fed up of it. I would love to come home from work and it smells nice and clean and it's tidy. I don't even work full time, so I think I'm just not organising myself properly maybe.

I've been trying to think of a way to manage my cleaning for years and there is never a perfect solution! :( Routines are good (e.g. always change towels on Friday, etc) and I like to have big clear outs too so you don't have clutter in the way when it comes to cleaning. Allocate jobs to family. To keep it simple, I would write a list of what you want to clean the next day every evening. That way you can fit it around what you have planned. E.g if tomorrow is Saturday but I am out 12-5pm, then I will clean the kitchen for 2 hours in the morning and clean the loos when I get home. When I went back to work (almost full time) after maternity leave we got a cleaner in 2 hours a week just to mop and vacuum because there is too much floor space and it really helps. Hope that random bunch of facts about my life kind of helps you in some way! :)😂 but the goal is, not to spend your life cleaning and more time enjoying yourself ;)

I've just discovered The Organised Mum - have you heard of her? She has a blog and a Facebook page.

I think the jist is that you spend 30 minutes a day doing things Monday - Friday, on an 8 week rotation.

Certainly get the teens involved. I tend to ignore their bedrooms providing they help keep the communal areas clean.
The Organised Mum method is brilliant, I've been sticking to her routine for a while now and the house is cleaner even though I'm spending less time doing it. I do admit to doing a bit more than her 45 minutes during the week, I probably do more like and hour or an hour and a half. Although I only do the 15 mins on Thursday and I have two rooms which aren't on her plan. Weekends I get the kids in on the 15 minutes.
