Where do you put your tea towels when they're in use?

God this is boring. I'm so sorry. But yesterday I had such a tantrum at all the tea towels falling down off the radiator and I'm the only fucker who picks them up.

I don't like those little rubber things with Xs in them, and surely tea towels don't stay on normal hooks?

So, tell me, if you've cracked it, what do you do?

We can't drape them over drawer/oven handles as our dogs would walk past them and fur all over them, or rip them up and eat them...

We bought a cheap plastic stick-on hook and it's hung up near the sink. Looks a bit shit but works for us.

Ickyockycocky · 06/02/2018 08:02

I wash mine after they’ve been used.

Steamcloud · 06/02/2018 08:05

Clip on tea towel loops from Lakeland

Rainatnight · 06/02/2018 08:07

Icky after each single use?

Oven door handle for us. If not it would be on the kitchen drawer. Not the kitchen draw. Cos they don't fkn exist.

DustyMaiden · 06/02/2018 08:10

I have two plastic drawers under sink. One for clean tea towels, one for dirty. I only use them once.

Hanging tea towels on the oven is a hanging offence.

Giggorata · 06/02/2018 08:14

Metal rail that goes over the cabinet door, from Lidl, I think.

Ivory200 · 06/02/2018 08:21

I have a proper towel rail, about 30 long, fixed inside and at the top of a cupboard door. That cupboard only houses dishwasher tablets/rinse aid etc, so is by no means overloaded. It's right next to the dishwasher, so becomes warm when dishwasher is operating. Seems to work well for me, I always have a dry tea towel to hand. I change it every day, and more often if the kitchen is very busy (batch cooking sessions or dinner party prep).

As a side issue (but sort of connected),,,,what do you all do with your used dishcloths? I use a clean one once or twice a day but have no idea what to do with the dirty ones until I next do a hot wash as they are wet, so can't go in with the dirty laundry

Rainatnight · 06/02/2018 08:53

Folin, I have a little basket, from the pound shop I think, next to the washing machine. I chuck in tea towels, bibs, any other random dirty bits from downstairs that don't belong in the main laundry bin. Then I throw on a wash of all that stuff when the basket is full.

Quite proud I have one household solution!

I buy towels with loops or use some of these:

Then i just use normal stick on hooks and they never fall off.

NoParticularPattern · 06/02/2018 09:29

I have two hung over the rail on the Aga and then I have two on hooks next to the sink. I only ever buy tea towels with a loop on so that I can hang them from the hooks. Oven gloves live folded up on the side next to the aga.

NoParticularPattern · 06/02/2018 09:32

Oh and in the utility/boot room I have a hook over set of rails on the cupboard door for the towel that gets used in there.

LavenderLemons · 06/02/2018 09:47

I have same type as RustyBear. They’re self adhesive and £2 each at Wilko. No loops needed on tea towels as they just slot in. Strong enough to take hand towels, too.

NannyR · 06/02/2018 09:53

I wash mine after every use, but I only wash up once a day. I keep them in the drawer, use them once then they go in the washing machine.

afatalflaw · 06/02/2018 09:56

I am excited as I recently solved this one- for myself at least. I stuck two of those removable hooks on the inside of the under sink cupboard and they go on there.

All I have to do now is train myself not to let about 20 build up on there but gradually migrate them to the laundry. At least no one else can see them though.

specialsubject · 06/02/2018 10:07

rustybears hooks are the thing, we have those. Local kitchen shop or eBay, or pay extra on amazon.

BiddyPop · 06/02/2018 10:38

We have a rail with 5 hooks on the outside of the cupboard space for the ridge. There is 1 for the aprons, 2 for oven gloves, 1 for a tea towel and 1 for a handtowel.

SuddenBeetE · 06/02/2018 16:57

Another who washes a tea towel a day. I have a pretty wet bag hanging up by the back door, all wet tea towels bibs kitchen cloths (don’t use paper kitchen roll so use a lot) go in there, then into the washing machine when full.
