Have you ever seen weird stains like this before?!! A total mystery, please help

Hi,

I have been getting build up of marks on this table - I've attached a picture.

It's a dining table, so I've been eating my dinner, using my laptop etc on it. On one of the chairs, I've been storing my laptop charger on them and it has created a similar mark. So I'm thinking that these marks are due to heat? The marks are shiny.

Has anyone come across such marks, and how should I go about removing them?

Thanks in advance

Looks like heat or water marks damaging the top varnish/finish.

Get a table cloth or placemats.

Apologies you could try a light sandpaper, dust off and paint some new clear varnish on a bit of it, and do it all if it works.

If it doesn't work, sandpaper off and try wood wax stain.

Crop circles.

It does look like water - slugs maybe?

TooManyButtons · 24/01/2018 23:43

Aliens.

Thanks for the help. I really don't want to sandpaper it, as I'm renting the property so it doesn't belong to me.

They really do look like crop circles.

Wow, that is very strange.

You might be able to remove the marks - there are a few tips here

tipnut.com/diy-how-to-remove-white-heat-stains-on-wood-table/

If that doesn’t work and it’s a solid wood top you could maybe give it a light sand and revarnish. All depends on the surface really.

Definitely get a table heat protector for next time though.

oil?

MikeUniformMike · 25/01/2018 17:31

They are heat marks.
