Eliminating smells

I got home this evening after work and on the way had a message from my DD saying she had burnt some cheese in the microwave, spoil a dish and ruined a chopping board!
OK,we all burn things.
What I found was that she had put paneer in the microwave in an earthenware dish, wasn't sure how long to heat it for so put it on intending to check it at intervals. She put it on full power and didn't look for 20 mins.
By the time I got there she had leaned out the microwave oven so that was clean and didn't smell, put one slices on the burns on the chopping board which I can sand off as relativly superficial.I threw the dish out as it had cracked.
What I can't get rid of is the stench. She had had the windows open and closed doors to stop the smell spreading but the hall and kitchen reek.
Any ideas for eliminating this smell?

Keeping the windows open as often as possible , try boiling a pan of water with orange / lemon / cinnamon (or whatever smells you like !) in it ?

I'm not working tomorrow so will try that and will wipe all the cupboards down.I left the kitchen window open overnight(quiet neighbourhood so risked it)and the stench is still as strong this morning.

Is the burnt paneer in the kitchen bin? If so, empty the bin and clean it out if necessary.

I removed the paneer last night, washed the cloths and sponges DD wiped thing down with.Still stinks.

I would highly recommend keeping your home as well-ventilated as possible. Make sure everything is completely clean, spray down counter tops with scented cleaner, use the orange and lemon method suggested by GYMBALL - it really does work! I would also suggest you light candles to help dispel the smell.
