Mop for wood floor?

Hello,

Have just moved into an old house with a large wooden floor through the kitchen and diner.

Need to go and buy new mop - am I better with one of these new pad/squirty systems, or should I stick with traditional? If so, is a sponge mop better or the classic type??

Thanks!

Ooh boring but important topic - have been thinking about this as we’ve just had some building work finish and I now have a much larger expanse of wooden floor to clean.

I have a spray mop which I quite like, as it’s nice and light and easy to carry around the house. But it’s too short to be comfortable (I’m tall), and is only really practical for small areas. If your floor is actually dirty, you need to change the pad quite often otherwise you end up just moving dirt around. Get lots of spare pads if you do get one.

I’ve just bought a ‘proper’ vileda mop and bucket, the Turbo I think. It wrings the mop out well so your wooden floors don’t get too wet (also it doesn’t hurt your wrists, which I’ve always found with the push-down wringers). I’d recommend it for a thorough clean, perhaps with a spray mop for spot cleans in-between.

I use to have a spray mop before but i ended up buying too many pads so i ended going back to a traditional mop and bucket from vileda

Interesting - the vileda turbo looks good but £30 for a mop, eek!

We've had wooden floor put in the kitchen though and need a 'dryish mop' option for cleaning so this may be the way to go. We did buy a large indoor/outdoor rug for under the dining table though - perhaps this could be mopped too!

It must have been on offer when I got mine from amazon - it was £22, which still seemed like a lot. Might be worth looking around for discounts if you’re not in a hurry.

Regular vileda mop. Absolutely no probs with it at all.
It used to be mopped daily in my childhood and it was fine. (Far from daily here...)
