How long do you think a semi decent (Bosch, £360) tumbledrier should last?
Probably used 3times a week, minimum.
TIA

We've got one that sounds similar and it's used more than 3x a week. It's now about 7 years old, so at least that long! Maybe more?

mckenzie · 08/01/2018 19:15

Thanks tractor ted
This be keeps stopping and showing the container light but we’ve done the trick as usual but this time it’s not solving the problem. It’s 5 and s half years old. DH says I use it more than 3x a week Smile

How annoying. I find that when you take the bottom container bit out, quite a lot of the fluff backs up a bit! So might be worth investigating further, but you've probably already done that.

mckenzie · 08/01/2018 20:50

Yes. DH does that extra bit each time. He said there was hardly anything in there.
It was only about 2 months ago that we have it the full clean. Confused

I would expect it to last longer

Here is info on how to check some stuff incl the pump

at least 6 years
check out independent repair guys in your area.
maybe it just needs a new part

mckenzie · 08/01/2018 21:57

Thanks very much. I need to do the check that the guys talks bout at the end of the video but I’m a tad confused. I take out the water container and empty it and pour a glass of water into the space where the container was. Is that correct?

OP posts:
AveEldon · 09/01/2018 06:55

Did you watch the video?

AveEldon · 09/01/2018 07:00

Is your water container at the top or the bottom of the dryer?
It sounds like you pour it into the space where the container goes, then replace the container

Don't use mine very often about once a fortnight. More in winter and mainly towels and sheets. I've had it thirty years! The door is broken at the hinge but you can shove it back on and it still works. It is in the shed so it doesn't matter. They don't make them like they used to!

ferrier · 09/01/2018 08:02

5+ loads a week. 10 years old (coming up for 11 actually). Bosch. Never needed any attention.
Similar washing machine. Prob 10 loads a week. Has needed minor attention from independent repair guy.

Usage plays a large part, of course more use = faster wear.

My experience these days, short life 3yrs, average life 5years, 7yrs+ and doing very well.

Current dryer (£400), is just shy of 2 years old and has already broken down once, which took 3weeks to fix. It is very well looked after, but is used a LOT (usually no fewer than 5times a week), I do feel bad, but due to DH respiratory allergy issues we just can’t risk damp, mildew/Mould.

feltcarrot · 10/01/2018 19:47

Tumble dryer and dishwasher both 20 years old and both Bosch.

ferrier · 11/01/2018 00:59

Might switch to a Bosch dishwasher then! My Neff is a pain.
