Guttering overflowing

Hi, am still quite new to homeowning so haven't quite worked out what different tradespeople cover so would appreciate some help please.

My home is in quite a tall building and we need to get the gutters cleared. This sounds like a very simple job to me but we can't do it ourselves due to the height. What sort of tradesman should we ask to do it for us?

Thanks!

Hi, B1977 - if you have a local window cleaner who does your windows anyway (or those of your neighbours) you could ask him if his ladder would reach all the way to the gutters and would he clear them for you - window cleaners are often happy to do this. However if there is more to the over-flowing guttering that simply blockage, eg guttering damaged, coming away from the wall, etc, you will need a general builder to replace it.

What height is it? You may need to hire a scaffold tower to comply with health & safety regs if you are paying someone else to do it.

The problem gutter is at the bottom of the 3rd storey, is that too high?

Almost certainly. Our house is built on a slope and has a cellar window. It's also 100 years old so has high ceilings. at the front the cellar plus all the other bits make the top of the ridge about 30' high and we were told that was too high for a workman to use a ladder.
