We were renting one half of a semi detached when the other half came on the market and was in our budget. If we had bought it, I was wondering if we could just knock a hole in the dividing wall and post things through (obviously not seriously) or (semi-seriously) if we could persuade the landlord to swap houses so we still bought it but didn't have to move. As it was, when we viewed it, I decided I didn't like things being the opposite way around. We eventually moved two miles up the road.

London to The Hague as a child
London to Newcastle upon Tyne as an adult

Shortest - 3 streets. Same post round. Very handy.

When I was at uni I lived in a high rise building and moved from the 6th floor up to thr 19th floor one year. (Upgrade!) Ten years later I moved from America across the ocean to Norfolk. (Downgrade? ;)

Furthest; West Kensington to Gillingham Kent
Closest, other end if the road, take a small walk down a side road and turn right past the shops.

DH; 16,000 miles longest
Shortest, West Kensington to Barons Court, a couple of miles at the most.

Probably the sharpest
