Tx u bohemond ..a little concerned tha5 when large boxes like that are tipped to go thru loft opening fragile decs glass etc will break even if wrapped individually...currently in fruit boxes ie apple box one layer which keeps them fairly individually wrapped ..

I read a Martha Stewart Christmas article and bought plastic boxes with clip on lids , 200 plastic cups and a glue gun . Cut cardboard to fit base of box and glued cups to it . Cut next layer and repeated . Each precious ornament has its own cup.
Not so special ones go into shoe boxes or similar in another crate . Wreaths ,garlands in yet another ,all interior boxes are named with contents.
Lights are wound round old magazines and stored with adaptor plugs and extension leads in their own box .
You might not need to go as far as me in my organisation but it works for me.
The final photo is a step too far ,I think !

Large “really useful” boxes for us too, I have cardboard inserts from apple trays (supermarket happy to give them away) and layer my baubles with those and bubble wrap, then pad it all out with tinsel which stops it all shifting about as you put the box in the loft. A separate box for fairy lights (in their original boxes) and all non-bauble decorations, again tinsel holds it all in place. I don’t actually put up all that much tinsel but it is very useful for filling the gaps in the boxes.

Get rid of everything and start again?

We got a plastic storage box for fragile decorations. The rest go in carrier bags. The lights go back in the boxes. Tinsel goes in carrier bags. The star goes back in the box.

My baubles get wrapped individually in bubble wrap using masking tape, then put in a big cardboard box.

We use plastic boxes with clip on lids. It is so much better, when I lived in an older house I was paranoid about cardboard boxes and any roof leaks. I have a separate smaller one for delicate decorations which doesn’t need as much manoeuvring to get it through the loft hatch.

Plastic lidded boxes and bubble wrap, bubble wrap is collected throughout the year from deliveries.
