What type of water do you put in your iron to maintain it?

I used purified water from Robert Dyas and have run out. Now reading some articles that say to use purified water, distilled water or de-ionised water. Are these the same thing? Also some articles say use half tap water and half one of these - confused. Does anyone know? Thanks.

I just use tap water, I've had my iron over five years and it doesn't seem to have caused it any damage (I live in an area with very soft water though)

I use the water out of our condenser dryer. Same as distilled water. But it needs to be fresh, for some reason it doesn't store and goes smelly.

out of the dryer??? Never heard that - what is supposed to be better abut that? Thanks.

Should add we are in massively hard water area - will put a whole through the kettle within about months.

I use deionised water from Halfords, about £3 for 5L, used for refilling car batteries! Also use it in my steam mop as it is what is recommended.

This is very hard water area. I buy distilled or deonised or whatever water Wilco sells, same stuff that goes in car coolant/antifreeze mix.

I use regular tap water for the car windscreen wash, though.

The tumble dryer distills the water when it's drying if you have a condenser. Don't use tap water if it's a hard water area - the best case scenario from this is that it spits scale onto your clothes at random intervals.
