Beanbags

The kid's beanbag is looking grubby so I thought I'd wash it. But the polystyrene beads are not in a internal bag.

Am I crazy to think about tipping the contents into the bath, washing and drying the cover and refilling ? It's a big beanbag so wasn't cheap....

Just tip it out into a bin bag and when its washed decant the beads back into the bag ? Don't get why you'd need to use a bath

I wouldn't tip them into the bath, it would be a nightmare to get them out.
I would also tip them into a bin bag and then once you've washed it tip them back in.

Magic - hadn't thought of a bin bag (seems rather obvious now Confused) - the bath was the only large "container" I could think of.

Right, I'm getting out of bed to look for that black sack.

Thank you.

Can you wash them with the beans in? I was just thinking about the exact same thing...

Use a kitchen roll middle to help get them out of the bin bag back into the bag!

Google says use a duvet cover not a plastic bag. Less static problems.

Empty and clean your Hoover and Hoover them out, then empty the Hoover into a black bag. Then reverse when the cover is dry. If your black bags are too flimsy, use a bag for life or a clean bin.

I started with a bin bag. That was hell (static!) and it looked like it was going to take more bags than i had. So I reverted to the original plan. The beads filled the bath to the rim (big bag, no way but would fit full in my washing machine!). Washed the bag, dried on radiators (forgive me pigletjohn) then refilled (bag in bath, lots of static but ok), then hoovered up the last few escapees. Cursing MIL for buying a stoopid colour bag and not checking it had a liner...

I put mine into pillow cases, then into the dogs bed. Hopefully that will help.

A bit late to the thread and I hope your vacuum cleaner is still working.

Loose beans get everywhere. You need a rubber broom (e.g. www.wilko.com/search?q=rubber+broom but I don't think I paid that much for mine) or rubber gloves and an awful lot of patience to clean them up before you vacuum clean.

Best bet is to take the full bean bag cover outside, get an old but not holey small duvet cover or suitable thin bag and pour the beans into that and fasten it securely or sew it up.

When the bean bag cover has been cleaned, pop the full bag of beans into the cover.

You can buy bean bag liners but I didn't have much success with the one I got.
