Can anyone recommend good place to order crockery, dinner sets online please? Looking for reasonable price so nothing too expensive. Thanks

I am on this mission too, had a look at Dunelm earlier and they have a few nice sets.

Tesco do reasonable plain white.

Plain white from wilkos

We use Jamie Oliver (originally Wedgewood but now Churchill) for every day as the glaze is good and they have lasted well. However for mass catering (large groups and buffet parties etc) I have several (10) sets of the Value white crockery from Wilkinsons: they have lasted surprisingly well and although aimed at students (I think they were only £5 for 4 dinner plates, side plates and bowls though similar look to be £6 now) we have been really impressed: they get rolled out for all large gatherings: are bright white so can be mixed and matched with all other white crockery, and the glaze has lasted well. The bowls are great for Chinese food too. I'd really recommend them as a budget choice which can be styled up or down.

Try local charity shops. They usually have them and they will be far better than cheap shit from Tesco.

'Everyday' crockery, or "for best" ?
A set of 6, or are you ordering for a 100 place setting ?
Any kind of budget limits ?

Plain white from Ikea. They are lightweight (similar to corelle) and dead cheap.

MyKidAreTakingMySanity · 06/12/2017 23:33

I got 8 dishes, 8 plates, 8 side plates and 8 mugs for £35 for my first house almost 20 years ago and they're still in daily use. I'll never get rid of them. Expensive isn't always the best. Ikea has some great crockery. Very sturdy stuff. Looks like it'll last.

Thanks all, that's very helpful. I am looking for every day use but reasonable quality. Don't want to pay a fortune though!

I can recommend Denby, they have an outlet shop with slight seconds. It's amazing quality. I've had mine almost 20 years and it's bomb proof. I've just decided to change it (for a different coloured Denby) as it doesn't match my kitchen.

Get them from a catering supplies place online (that supplies crockery etc to restaurants and businesses and so on). Usually fairly cheap, but extremely durable - much more than your bog standard consumer ones.

Bitchywaitress · 09/12/2017 02:49

I would second Denby. Quality is wonderful. Our set of 8 with plate, sideplate, bowl and mug was £150 and they are so sturdy.

Bitchywaitress · 09/12/2017 02:51

Ops sorry it was £300 but I'm sure you could get for less.

JT05 · 11/12/2017 07:40

I’d also say Denby, we’ve had ours for decades!
Argos sell sets of a plain design for about £60.

Nanasueathome · 11/12/2017 07:43

There’s a Gordon Ramsey white dinner service for 4 people on amazon at £47.99 ( is reduced from around £65)
