You beat me to it, MuffinMclay!

Life is WAY TOO SHORT!!!

saggers · 18/04/2007 21:47

Never

saggers · 18/04/2007 21:49

I did wash and iron muslin squares just before DD1 was born but I was clearly suffering from some sort of hormonal madness.

GibbonInARibbon · 18/04/2007 21:49

yes

Emzickletodoitallagainsoon · 19/04/2007 08:09

I iron mine... and the cot sheets, and my DP's boxer shorts... I think I will stop confessing now

MrsBadger · 19/04/2007 08:39

good lord no

although I confess to doing the valance of the spare bed sheet when PIL come to stay, just because it makes me feel smug, not because I think they notice.

trillium · 19/04/2007 09:08

Nope. I don't iron anything - don't have an iron, and haven't had one for over 10 years.

I have much better things to do with my time , although I did used to kind of enjoy it. I used to do it in front of the television on a Sunday afternoon and watch a film. (This was pre-dd, and when there were only four channels)

Cappuccino · 19/04/2007 09:13

I am with DG on this it is a matter of pampering

pointy sheets are no pleasure to get into

I don't iron in summer tho if I can get the sheets straight off the line as they smell all lovely and fresh and it would take that away

but in the winter yes. The only other option would maybe to get flannelette sheets so they aren't pointy in the winter but really that would age me by about 20 years

MrsBadger · 19/04/2007 09:17

I probably would if my sheets were actually pointy

Cappuccino · 19/04/2007 09:22

i have very starchy cotton sheets MrsB

they are like Alps

DumbledoresGirl · 19/04/2007 09:32

I cannnot understand this whole "I haven't owned an iron in 20 years" thing. I am at this very moment wearing a new top - one of those ones that carries instructions on how to retain its creased appearance after washing - ie, when wet, screw it up into a ball and leave to dry naturally, hey presto, your clothes will look like they have lain at the back of a cupboard for years. I just don't get it. I am dying to get the top off and give it a good go over with the iron. When I wash it, I will not do as the instructions dictate as I desperately want to see what it will look like when it has been nicely ironed! I know I am an ironing freak. I am better than I was. But I am seriously not comfortable wearing this top and feeling like everyone is looking at me and thinking "God that woman has let herself go lately, she can't even be bothered to get the iron out."

Cappuccino · 19/04/2007 09:41

lol DG

I hope you are not like my mil who iron children's knickers and cot blankets

last time she came to stay she had a real huff on because I said no, it would not be helpful if she would do that, it would be more helpful if she could play with her bleddy grandchildren rather than trying to find jobs round the house to make me feel inadequate

clairemow · 19/04/2007 09:46

oh dear, I have jersey sheets, for the very reason that they don't need ironing. Am I a pensioner in a 34 year old's body?? Or just a lazy bint? Hmmm.

DumbledoresGirl · 19/04/2007 09:49

I don't iron knickers (except dh has 3 "trunks" style pants that look tons better when ironed so I do those when they appear). I also don't iron socks, fleeces or towels. Since Mning, I have given up ironing tracksuit bottoms (unless very creased) and those cargo trousers my boys wear with loads of zips and pockets (again unless they look very creased). I put jeans and sheets in the pile to iron but, as I said earlier, if I need them before they are ironed, I will get them out and use them. Everything else, I think, I iron.

Oh but no to blankets too!

bozza · 19/04/2007 10:02

I don't iron sheets because I don't make any improvement to their appearance by doing so. I don't iron duvet covers for the same reason and ours could really do with it.

CoffeeCrazedMama · 19/04/2007 11:18

I do - but I would love not to as I have 4 dcs and arthritis but I can't bring myself to put crumpled sheets on the beds! I think it's because they are all pure cotton that makes them look so crinkly when they come in off the line and I do like the way they look when ironed both on bed and when folded neatly in cupboard.

Clary · 19/04/2007 11:21

I love ironing but even I don't iron sheets.

They ar efitted tho so there's not much point, unlike DG.

I used to do them but gave up when DS1 was born. Still do duvet covers tho oh yes.

PestoMonster · 19/04/2007 11:24

Nooooooooo!! I have enough real ironing to do.

wildwoman · 19/04/2007 11:29

I am the the Queen of Lazytown so imagine my horror at finding myself not only ironing socks today but tiny childrens socks! What the hell is happening to me?

hana · 19/04/2007 11:38

don't do sheets
but religiously do pillowcases!
