Persil Powergems. It is fab. Smells great, cleans stains away really well and doesn’t take up a lot of space.

TheBeastOfRoystonVasey · 23/11/2017 12:51

Formil powder from Lidl, as good as Persil and cheaper

RockinRobinTweets · 23/11/2017 12:52

Ariel with yellow lenor

GameOldBirdz · 23/11/2017 12:53

I used whatever biological washing powder is on offer. I'm currently using Surf because it's £10 for a massive box at Farmfoods.

Then I top up with Ariel Actiflift liquid just because I love the smell. On it's own I think it's pretty crap as a detergent but it smells lovely Grin

Fontella · 23/11/2017 13:03

I tend to go with whatever is on offer, and usually one or other of the main brands is doing a promotion - whether it's powder, liquids, sachets or whatever, I've used them all.

So I recently bought a gigantic box of powder Surf 'with fragrance release - Tropical Lily and Ylang Ylang' - just read that off the box! Grin

I can honestly say it's the nicest product I have ever used. The smell of the washing is gorgeous and sticks around. I have a Wincheater jacket that I only put on to go for my daily walk and every time I pull it over my head, I get the glorious smell and I washed it three weeks ago. Even the kids have remarked on how lovely their clothes smell and it cleans well too. Just done all my white bedding and it's out of the line now blowing in the breeze.

My mum (who was a washing fanatic in that her white sheets and crisp laundry were her pride and joy - she even ironed underwear) swore by Ariel. She wouldn't use anything else.

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 23/11/2017 13:07

I was lucky enough to receive about 4 months free supply of Persil power gems. I’ll miss them when I go back to my usual asda own brand

BumWad · 24/11/2017 12:54

Persil bio powder

expatmigrant · 24/11/2017 14:16

Peril non bio powder

starkid · 24/11/2017 14:36

Asda non-bio, not that I've tried very many, but it seems fine.

IceMagic · 24/11/2017 14:38

Ariel

Helspopje · 24/11/2017 14:51

Costco Kirkland liquid pouches

IceMagic · 24/11/2017 17:05

I also like Woolite for delicates

SloanePeterson · 24/11/2017 17:09

Persil bio powder, I'd not go back to anything different now. There's a powder that smells just awful to me, I can tell when people have used it as to my nose it smells like BO Confused I think it's Ariel.

Madbengalmum · 24/11/2017 17:10

Ariel gel or Method Laundry detergent.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/11/2017 17:15

Ariel powder as keeps DD's white school polo shirts & socks sparkling & also eats tomato sauce stains.
I love the smell & my Mum uses it too so it also makes me think of her.

ruthsmumkath · 24/11/2017 17:24

Bold or Surf - even the house smells nicer Smile

QuitMoaning · 26/11/2017 16:25

Ariel actilift powder. Our whites are whitey white. Can’t seem to buy it in supermarkets so I use Groupon and buy in bulk.
I have to wash 14/15 chef whites a week that have oil on them and this powder works for us.

RaininSummer · 26/11/2017 17:13

Liking Ecover lavender and sandalwood at prresent. Otherwise use whichever non bio is best value.

DramaAlpaca · 26/11/2017 17:16

Aldi Almat bio tablets. I switched from Ariel because I saw it was a Which? Best Buy. It's much cheaper & performance wise it's as good as Ariel.

ggirl · 26/11/2017 17:17

Ariel smell is over powering to me so avoid it but it seems from this thread that it's good at stain removal ,I buy whatever is on offer and often find stains difficult to shift..maybe I should try the smelly Ariel ?

BusterGonad · 26/11/2017 17:22

I only use Non Bio as my whole household, inc me have sensitive skin, I love Fairy 2 in 1 capsules but have just purchased Asda's own version. It's hard to get Non Bio in capsule form so I'm pretty pleased to that they've started doing their (Asda) own version.

BlackPeppercorn · 26/11/2017 18:49

Ariel original, the 60 wash size. I often find it on special offer. I am very careful these days to measure out the dosage very exactly (economy drive here) and surprised to find how long one container lasts! I think I started off with good intentions but then the amounts just crept up.
With the whites, I use a Tesco whitening sheet and like the results.

LisaMed1 · 27/11/2017 12:48

It has to be Ariel. I've tried the Aldi one that's recommended by Which, but it just isn't as good as Ariel with the whites. I've got it on subscribe and save at Amazon but keeping a close eye on the prices (they can slip after a month or two).

FoofFighter · 27/11/2017 12:52

Formil from Lidl, with their own brand (Doussy I think it's called?) fabric conditioner, the white one.

Currently have some of those Unstoppable things to get through though, they smell like watermelons and makes my house smell lovely. But doesn't linger on the clothes I find.

EcoCleaner · 27/11/2017 20:28

Splosh Bio powder is my current eco detergent of choice but before going green in our house, I swore blind by Persil Bio powder. It was far better than anythig else I’d used.

Overall, powders tend to wash better and rinse out easier than liquids and gels.
