So today I have come back to my house after my cleaner has been for 2 hours. We have a small/medium tidy 3 bedroom bungalow with a new kitchen bathroom and small toilet.

Kitchen done floors mopped and surfaces wiped....however brand new so easy.

Bathroom ...no bath walk in shower. One of the 1 of the glass parts of the shower sparkling bit of lime scale on the rest. Sink and toilet and floor done

Hallway - done

Living room done expect shelves which were not dusted . I do think she has done the patio window in the living room

Bedrooms not done.- wanted them hoovered
Small toilet - not done....but she might have thought it was a cupboard

Ultility might have been done- this is messier so more difficult

i want to make this work and think she could have done it all but not sure if I'm being unreasonable.... any thoughts on how best to manage. Is a print out itinerary list that she ticks off unreasonable?

I would either phone her or be home next time and thank her for what she did last time, and say that now you've had the first clean you can see what needs doing more often/thoroughly and what can be done less often.

If you can't be there, write it in a note, but keep it positive and friendly.

However if she misses big areas the next time then you may as well find a new cleaner before you get annoyed with her and fall out.

No not unreasonable. We had a tick list for our cleaner when she first started and she did as much of it as she could in the time. It worked well as we prioritised the jobs so she started with what needed doing most! We've had her over a year now so don't bother with a list anymore although do leave a note if there's something specific we want her to do.

You need more than 2 hours

I had felt that I'd been clear....but when she uttered the words, let's see what I can get done when I dropped round the key it made me feel a little apprehensive. Ok so next week list divided into Priority essential weekly and fortnightly. E.g. Toilets weekly....shelves in living room fortnightly.

I also made the rooky error of leaving the money. Next week I will drop round the £20 in the evening. Which might focus her mind.
She lives 2 doors along in the village but is not a gossip and if I have to let her go I will just say I don't have enough money.

Not sure I need more that 2 hours...it really is a new kitchen and very tidy house... I also said just Hoover kids bedroom. So a bit odd bit to do it, however benefit of the doubt she might have spent ages on patio window and hallway dooor.
