Induction pans.

Just swapped my hob and need new pans. I would like non stick lightweight pans. I am confused about whether I need 3 ply or 5 ply pans?? Can anyone recommend or not recommend any please??

Hi 1805. I can't recommend induction pans, because I don't use them, but avoid lightweight pans. How a pan distributes and retains heat is a function of how much metal is in them. Very lightweight ones tend to have hotter and cooler spots.

Tefal are lightweight but my induction ones literally fell apart after a few months (plate at the bottom warped and fell of two pans scoring my hob).

I find induction pans with a thick/heavier bottom work much better.

Just had a new induction hob and have a mixture of Neff pans (not a neff hob) and some John Lewis ones. I went for quality and so far so good but only been 3 weeks and some of the pans only been used once.

Thanks. I'm off to John Lewis this afternoon. I previously used their The Pan collection, but the induction ones get bad reviews.

quitmoaning - can I ask which JL pans you use?

I didn't have to change our plans for the induction hob, but heavy based pans heat most evenly. I'd also avoid non stick apart from a milk pan which I use for milk based sauces and poaching eggs. Judge pans are pretty good ime. Our stainless steel ones are Bella Cuisine - no idea if they are still available. Lots of people recommend Ikea's pans for induction.

We use the Costco circulon ones and love them. They're non stick, not light weight though.

We've just had a new kitchen/induction hob and after looking at reviews got Green Pan pans: www.greenpan.co.uk

Very pleased so far, although it's early days. We got metal handles so we can also use them in the oven - but there's all sorts of options.

I ended up with the Classic range and got one of the below as well as a frying pan and griddle. Happy so far.

I bought quality ones for once instead of always going for a bargain- got Le Cruset stainless steel ones- they’re great.

I use le creuset, so not lightweight, but work well.
I also have a frying pan from tk maxx, they generally have a good selection and a huge saucepan from ikea. The ikea one is lightweight and i think heat distribution was fine (i've actually only used it once)

Two of our especially bought induction pans have warped. One was a Barbantia and I can’t remember the other. Luckily most of our old pans were fine.

I use Ikea 365 stainless steel pans which are over 5 years old now and still look as good as new. I don't think you necessarily need all your pans to be non stick; boiling pasta, rice, veg etc. I have a circulon infinity frying pan and saute pan for when I need to use a non stick pan.

Pro cook on the internet got a six pan set reduced to 140 quid.

Last lot lasted 15 years.
