I think mine is a 8kg and no, I can’t get a duvet in there.

MongerTruffle · 14/11/2017 19:00

Mine is a 7kg (due to be replaced soon). I can fit a big duvet in there.

OutnumberedbyFurchesters · 14/11/2017 19:00

8kg (I think) and wouldnt get a double in it.

AppleAndBlackberry · 14/11/2017 19:00

I have a 9kg and it fits a light weight superking duvet (4 tog) but not a heavy weight one. Not sure about double but I think it would fit.

JustWonderingZ · 14/11/2017 19:01

Double duvet no, single duvet yes. This is exactly why we got a 13kg one

NoParticularPattern · 14/11/2017 19:02

Ours isn’t 8kg and I couldn’t fit a decent thickness duvet in it. If it were a thinner summer weight one and only a double then maybe, but our king size and double 13.5 Tog duvets won’t fit in it. I’d need about a 10kg capacity and even then it would probably be a squeeze.

NoParticularPattern · 14/11/2017 19:02

is a not isn’t. Hmm

confusedandemployed · 14/11/2017 19:03

I can fit my duvet in my 8kg (I think) washing machine. It's down so squashes quite small and only about 7tog and double not kingsize or anything.

Lules · 14/11/2017 19:03

Yes it fits a kingsize duvet but only a thin one.

Thanks all. I’m not intending to buy a 13kg one so might have to leave du ets for the launderette as usual.

For anyone looking, for a machine that will take a duvet. Have a look at the drum volume above the weight rating of the machine .

The grading for weight capacities are a bit of a con. When they’re being graded, manufacturers can have the clothing professionally folded -stacked top to bottom and front to back they can also use the door boot (rubber bit); and worst of all, the door OPEN! So basically they can use every inch of drum space, in a way that would never work for actually washing clothes.

You can find machines with the supposed same capacity in weight, but they’re totally different volumes. Eg, Hoover/Candy machines tend to have tall and shallow drums, which would never fit a duvet and then others like Bosch will have short and deep depth drums that will take a duvet.

Don't know if they're available where you are but I have an 8kg Simpson front loader - it was reasonably priced ($300 at the good guys) and I can (just, on its own) fit my king duvet in it.

Sorry it's an ezi sensor. Smile

I can get a lightweight or duck down double duvet in our 9kg machine. But you have to feed it in starting from from the very back of the drum and whilst rotating it.

Highly skilled technique. Smile

I have a 10kg zanussi lindo and i can get my kingsize down duvet in it. It only just goes in though.

JustMeeAgain · 15/11/2017 17:58

We have a 9kg and it can fit a king size summer duvet in, can't remember the to but it's really think. My superking size duvet it's 13tog and weighs a ton so would never fit in it

JustMeeAgain · 15/11/2017 17:59

*tog but its really thin

TweetTweetTweet · 15/11/2017 18:09

E1y - thanks for that info. I didn’t know that. The ones I’m looking at though don’t state volume size. I’ll just go by what other posters have said.

Thanks all.

I have an 8kg and a 9kg Bosch and both will wash a king size (10tog) duvet.
