How do you keep your pots/pans/trays etc in your Kitchen

Literally mine are just chucked in a cupboard, even when I tidy it and it looks nice it isn't practical to get stuff out from the back as I use everything regularly.

How do you store your saucepans, trays etc?

Saucepans are thrown in cupboards, and the doors are shut very quickly to stop them falling out.
Just realised that I don't own any trays.

custy · 16/04/2007 14:20

chucked unceremoniously undr sink

NAB3 · 16/04/2007 14:21

Pans are in a drawer and the lids are in a cupboard.

Ponce · 16/04/2007 14:21

I have a special rack to hang the pots with grooves for the lids on top. Frying pans go in a cupboard and the trays go in a drawer under the oven

MintChocChippyMinton · 16/04/2007 14:28

Same as you wangle, but I'd love some proper deep pan drawers,.

glassslipper · 16/04/2007 14:31

we have a cupboard. it's scary so you have to shut the door quickly

MrsBadger · 16/04/2007 14:34

I have deep pan drawers (that sounds like it should be on the Knickers thread...) for saucepans and frying pans, the stacked ones with teatowels between to protect the nonstick.

Oven trays stacked in cupboard over oven, again with teatowels.

Bst tip is to get rid of all excep the ones you really need - we have 3 saucepans, 3 frying-type pans and a casserole (all wedding presents) and that's all - ditched all the crappy old ones and the space is well worth it.

suejonez · 16/04/2007 14:34

Yo are not nromal Cov - the place for pots and pans is thrown in an unruly heap in a cupboard

ComeOVeneer · 16/04/2007 14:37

Sue I'm anal about such things, didn't you know that yet? Actually I am beginning to think I have a mild case of OCD. I have to make sure shoes are lined up, ornaments are positoned correctly, books on the shelf have to be in height order etc.

becklespeckle · 16/04/2007 14:37

pans in neat pile (size order with upside down lids) in cupboard - all the rest (trays, cooling racks, mixing bowls etc) chucked in randomly on bottom shelf. Do try to be tidy but it just doesn't happen!

Aufish · 16/04/2007 14:39

My pans go neatly stacked in the cupboard next to the oven and the trays go in the drawer underneath the fan oven.

exbury · 16/04/2007 14:40

New kitchen with loads of deep pan drawers - for plates and serving dishes as well as pans and baking stuff - it's great.

When I was clearing out before the kitchen was done, I did come to the conclusion that things which had been lost for months (if not years) at the back of the manky cupboard and hadn't been missed could be thrown out.

wangle99 · 16/04/2007 15:15

I'm glad I'm not alone!!!

We had our kitchen built for us, cannot believe I didn't think of pan drawers!

I have loads of kitchen cupboards and obviously too much junk to get everything to fit properly!!!!

MrsBadger - good idea aobut putting towel inbetween to protect nonstick thingys. We have a pull out drawer beside oven, quite deep. Is great

MrsBadger · 16/04/2007 15:21

if you have lots of cupboards you could always get new fittings (pull-out baskets, corner carousels etc) to organise the insides better...

fishie · 16/04/2007 15:26

i've got big drawers on wheels (ooer) from ikea which go under cupboards for lids baking stuff and whatnot, leaving pans neatly stacked alone in cupboard. my parents keep theirs on top of wall units but mine are too high.

Clary · 16/04/2007 15:29

It's impossible to keep the pan cupboard tidy unless you never cook.

DH tidied my tea towel drawer the other day and I couldn't find my window e-cloth. It was at the back, at the bottom. Drawer not so tidy now

chirpygirl · 16/04/2007 15:45

I discovered that child safety locks were brilliant for keeping my pan door shut.
Trays go on bottom in a random avalanche prone pile and I only have non-stick pans so they get put neatly on the top shelf, but then the trays are all tesco value and the pans are very expensive

KTeePee · 16/04/2007 15:45

Pans in a deep drawer (in my new kitchen, boast, boast!). Frying pans underneath the carousel thingy. Haven't found a home for baking trays yet - chucked out the ones I used the most when the kitchen was being done as they were getting manky - will probably put the replacements in a cupboard under the oven....

brimfull · 16/04/2007 15:49

huge pan drawer-tis fab ,all drawers for plates/bowls ets now in my new kitchen,it's so much easier
Also have a storage drawer at the bottom of the cooker for baking trays etc.
I store the roasting tin in the oven itself.

glassslipper · 16/04/2007 16:19

just been motivated to tidy my pan cupboard

have moved all lids to a drawer of things i rarely use under the oven. All pans and baking trays now stacked beautifully

blossomsmine · 16/04/2007 23:30

Mine go in a deep pan drawer. But the bottom of this drawer has now broken off completely because of the weight of all the pans. So now they sit in the broken drawer and the door is wedged closed but every now and then it falls off on to my foot or on to the dog. Not good, don't like it but dh won't fix it and i haven't got a clue

UCM · 16/04/2007 23:33

My pans, and anything that has a handle are stored on an old victorian washing thingy above my head. Tis brill and saves having a cupboard just for saucepans.

Many people have said (rude bastards of course) don't they get a bit dirty up there.

No they don't because I use everything up there on a weekly basis.
