Do cordless vacuums, eg Dyson, give up after a few years when the battery wears out?

I am thinking of buying one of those but read somewhere that the battery only lasts for a few years.
Is this true? Can they be replaced and at what cost?
The warranty is only 2 years which worries me.
For £450 I'd want it to last for 7/8 years.
Any thoughts?

I’ve had my Dyson handheld for 9 years. The battery wore out after about 4 years. I bought a replacement battery off Amazon for around £15, and it’s still going strong.

I had/have a cordless dyson and the battery gave up within a few months. Contacted dyson as it was still under warranty and they sent us a new one as it was a “known problem”. Couple of years later the battery has given up completely again, as well as many months of it frequently cutting out before the battery died altogether. I wouldn’t buy one again.

I was a bit concerned about the battery life as the battery died in my small Dyson handheld, it was one of the first ones so not for floors. I decided to buy the basic Dyson handheld which cost £160 last Black Friday sales as I didn’t want to spend too much in case the battery went and I have been very happy with it. I would probably think twice about spending £450 though
