Do you have a dishwasher you love or loathe? What should I look for?

What are the can't live without features I need in a dishwasher? Do you love your dishwasher or curse it every time you use it? I think I'm looking for a full size integrated model, but beyond that I've no idea what I need!

I have a slimline integrated Bosch with cutlery tray at home. Love it, cleans beautifully. Likewise our full size Indesit in our long term holiday rental. Size wise I'd like them the opposite way round as we eat out more when we are abroad but alas I only have a small kitchen at home so no choice.

magicstar1 · 15/10/2017 13:32

We got ours in Ikea...integrated, washes really well, has a quick cycle, and can fit everything!

somewhereovertherain · 15/10/2017 13:40

Love our silmline integrated bosch one. Only use one setting and works well for our family of 4. One tip from our joiner is to fit it on a piece of wood so easy to switch if it ever dies

JaneEyre70 · 15/10/2017 13:40

We've just replaced a very poor Zanussi with a Bosch one - it washes so well, you can fit allsorts in it as the shelves are well designed and it has a quick wash function as well as an eco setting that seems to take around 3 hrs, needless to say we don't use that one! I'm very happy with it and it was around £350. The quick cycles are a bit of hype tbh - they are fine for stuff you've just used and not pans etc. We use the everyday 50c one and it's fine. And one lesson we've learned is to only use Finish - own brand stuff is crap in comparison.

I hate the cutlery drawer. DH loved it. I put our fancy one in the rental and got myself a basic one with the cutlery basket. We have 3 young DC. I don't have time for cuterly drawers. DH hasn't forgiven me yet but he isn't the one loading/unloading the dishwasher.

sashh · 15/10/2017 13:49

My new one has a 30 min wash, use it for plates, glasses etc. I'd look for one with a short wash time again.

WillowWeeping · 15/10/2017 14:01

I have a double drawer dishwasher and it's brilliant. Never have to stack plates on side because one is always dirty/empty

WeAllHaveWings · 15/10/2017 14:03

I have a Siemens and the layout inside is great. Cutlery tray and I can still wash my large Denby plates/oven trays on the bottom and fit pint/wine glasses on top no problem. The Cutlery tray is much easier to load and unload. Lots of different timed programs too and a light on the floor to indicate it is still running. Really quiet too.

Disappointingly it randomly for no apparent reason doesn't wash well, maybe every 7-8 washes, and the pump gets blocked/needs a clearout every month or so as when water is left at the bottom of the machine. Never had these problems before with other dishwashers.

@DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen thank you would you mind telling me which model you have I would be so grateful! Thank you

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/10/2017 16:09

I'm looking at it now and there's no thing apart from Miele. I'll Google....

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/10/2017 16:15

I can't find one that looks like ours but it's about 5 years old now. It was probably the cheapest they have,it's whisper quiet you barely hear it. If you ring up Meile they'd be able to tell you if all their models have removable arms,I imagine they do tbh.

dementedpixie · 15/10/2017 16:42

You can remove the rotary arms on mine too for cleaning. The arms themselves don't come apart but you can take them out of the machine whole. It's the Bosch logixx

Grumpbum · 15/10/2017 17:14

Thank you the little holes of mine keep blocking off mid wash with bits of I don’t know what!!

abitoflight · 15/10/2017 17:25

Agree with above - cutlery drawer I think is a pain. Have to tilt dinner plates at bottom or I can’t fit in wine glasses.
Mines Miele. Cleans well. Eco wash 2 hrs 45 and rapid power wash 55. Opens itself when it has done

bouncydog · 15/10/2017 17:49

We have a fully integrated neff with cutlery tray and interior light! Huge range of programmes and timer so we put on overnight at cheap rate. Tells you when rinse aid needed and has a light shines onto the floor when it’s runnung as so quiet you have to put your ear to it to see if running! Love it.
