Has anyone gone for a cordless vacuum cleaner?

I really fancy a cordless one but don't trust online reviews these days. Looking for something lightweight and quiet besides being good, obviously. Any real, not paid for recommendations?

Would quite like a Roomba too but they are expensive! Would also quite like the Dyson hairdryer but can’t seem to justify the cost: £300! 😮

My Mum suffers with fibromyalgia and has been struggling with housework. She's just got a cordless Dyson and it's been a godsend! Really lightweight and just as good as her old corded one. She got it on sale and paid less than £100.

We have the Dyson V6 Absolute and love it. The only downside for me is it takes regular emptying and you sometimes have to pull at all the fluff etc to get it out.

We have a dyson V8. I love it. Rarely get the big dyson out these day. Lasts about 20 minutes on full power.

Highly highly recommend it. It's changed my life

Just bought a cheap morphs Richards for £100.
I can't justify a Dyson out of sale, and I can never seem to find the bargains that pp have!

We have a Vax cordless Hoover and it's brill! Had a few technical problems with it but Vax have sorted it really quickly with no questions asked.

We've got a Vax cordless that works better than my neighbour's cordless Dyson.

If I was buying now I'd go for the Shark no question. They're the best hoovers you can get, imo. We've got the LiftAway as our main hoover, it knocks Dysons out of the water, and they're cheaper.

I decided to buy a Dyson V6 Total Clean for my birthday, sad person that I am.

It has two brush heads. One normal rotating brush head and also a fluffy head for hard floors.

I left it for a few months before I first used it, because I thougt it was too extravagant a purchase but now wish I used it sooner. It's very good. The only thing is that the hand held unit for stairs is a little heavy for my hands which have the beginnings of arthritis. But I just about manage for now.

I haven't used the fluffy head yet as the main floorhead is just fine on all floor types. Maybe I haven't spilt the wrong type of stuff on the laminate and tiled floors yet to really know about the benefits of the fluffy head.

I did my research using my Which subscription and checking other reviews. One thing I found was that Dyson appear to be setting the sale prices at a lot of the retailers. When Argos or Curry's had a lower price Dyson had the same price on their website. They also threw in free extras on the website so I got extra accessories for free instead of paying more than £50.

Also when buying from Dyson I got a 2 year guarantee which they registered there and then and had 35 days to try the V6 out and if I didn't like it I could return it, no questions asked. I asked what they would do with the returned item and they said it would be sold as a used item.

Maybe I could have saved myself a little bit of money and got the base model, but all in all I've had a positive experience with my V6 (so far, touch wood!!). That is, if doing more vacuming is a good thing, ha ha!

We have Dyson handheld and it’s great.

I bought my MIL one last week for her bday from the Dyson website and it was massively reduced - have a look.

We have a Dyson cordless and I love it! We also have a roomba, ditto. The Dyson is not quiet though. The only other problem is the charge runs down quite quickly (especially if you use turbo mode!) so it doesn’t last long enough to do my whole house in one go. To be honest it is rare that I would be that keen anyway!

We have a Dyson v6 Absolute and it is pretty good. We have two cats which means quite a lot of fur everywhere, and also cat litter than gets tracked across our downstairs which is mostly wood or tile floors. Unfortunately I have to have it on Max power to do a decent job which means only 6 minutes of charge. I can just about do downstairs within 6 minutes but would be better if it was a bit longer, or the regular setting was a bit more powerful. If it wasn't for this I would use it for the whole house, but we keep our main hoover - a miele cat and dog (pull along) - upstairs and use that for the bedrooms. Stairs get a bit neglected! The dyson with the pet attachment is very good for quickly doing the sofas and dining room chairs to get fur and cat litter off.

Another downside for me is it isn't lightweight; it is heavier than the part of the miele which you actually have to carry, so perhaps it's good I'm restricted to only 6 mins!

It hasn't made me suddenly enjoy hoovering but I do it a bit more often, and DH definitely does it more often. It's certainly a hell of a lot better than the crappy black and decker handheld hoover we used to have for small jobs.
