What do you iron

Hello,

Just wondered what items you iron.

We don't do 'the ironing' we iron stuff before we put it on as not everything needs it.

My inlaws however iron their bedding, tea towels and underwear

Just wondered how far your ironing goes

Hi, I will start by saying I do have diagnosed OCD and wish I wasn't so bothered about ironing.
My mum always ironed everything when I was a child so when I left home I thought it was the norm.

I iron-

King size bedding incl pillow cases but not sheets

Ds's and Dd's single bedding incl pillow cases but not sheets

Tea towels, kitchen cloths and flannels
Also the towels that go on the towel rail and the kids hooded ones

All pyjamas

All uniform

Dp's work clothes

My clothes

Boxer shorts for dp and ds ( he is 14 )
Knickers and vests for dd ( she is 6 )

Do not iron my own underwear.

All of everyone else's normal clothes

Dd's school ribbons Blush

Draw the line at socks!

I have a constant mountain pile of ironing.
I hate how it controls me but is so much easier to get ready when clothes are ironed already and I am a really quick ironer who watches trash on Television whilst doing it.

My friends think I'm mad...

I iron everything except: fitted bed sheets, socks and my bras. Everything else gets ironed.

Illegitimate cash

Nothing

DH irons his shirts.

T towels, bed linen and shirts are the only things I iron. T towels get hung in kitchen and look all creased and a bit shabby if not ironed, on the plus side they take seconds to iron so not like it’s hard work.

MrsHarveySpecterV · 08/10/2017 22:43

I iron everything except for fitted sheets, underwear (I do iron baby vests and DDs vests), bath towels and shiny gym leggings.
I don't understand how people don't iron things! All of our clothes would look awful if we didn't iron them and bedding feels so much nicer when it's ironed.

Chloe1984 · 09/10/2017 12:52

The clothes we tend to wear just don’t really need ironing (think skinny jeans or tops with a bit of stretch in them), apart from shirts really. It may help that they are folded or hung up once they come out of the dryer. I'm with you on the bedding though, that’s one thing I find that always looks awful unless it’s ironed.

I personally iron nothing , but our ironing lady irons all the work shirts , t shirts , most bedding and some of the trousers.

Ropsleybunny · 09/10/2017 13:01

The only thing I iron is my best white tablecloth.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 09/10/2017 13:02

Nothing! We took our iron and ironing board to the dump the other day as we never use it.

We have a steamer which DH uses if he's wearing a shirt to work, and I'll use on the rare dress etc that needs a steam. I find most things don't need ironing!

AlternativeTentacle · 09/10/2017 13:13

My OH does our ironing, he got a new ironing board for his birthday last year. He loves it.

He does his shirts and whatever I want doing, mostly work tops.

Anatidae · 09/10/2017 13:14

I sew- the iron is used for that and that only. I don’t iron anything else.

NannyRed · 09/10/2017 13:22

All of husbands work shirts , my blouses and dresses. If I'm feeling all 'Stepford wifeish' I iron bedding, if bedding doesn't get ironed I don't worry. Always iron bedding for spare room if having overnight guest. Quit ironing tea towels decades ago, always iron napkins, but rarely use them so they just get put away until the next time they're needed.

XJerseyGirlX · 09/10/2017 13:27

I don't even know where the iron lives in my house. My tumble dryer seems to do a brilliant job of getting rid of all creases. However if anyone wore shirts in my household ( which they don't) I would probably iron them

Needalifeoverhaul · 09/10/2017 13:35

Nothing! A good shake after washing and hanging clothes up to dry straight away sorts any potential creases.
