They do not recycle anything

DB does not recycle paper, cans, plastic or glass.I don't like putting these materials in his black bin bag when I'm at his place. He does not believe he is responsible/liable for recycling. Everything goes in one black bag and then is disposed of away from the house e.g. at supermarket big bin or at work. I just don't understand why he does not use (or even own a dustbin). Literally everything goes in back bags: glass, paper, food waste, tea bags, unwanted clothes, cans, glass jars, glass bottles, lightbulbs, batteries, everything. Am I the weird one thinking this is odd?

No, it's not you - it's really odd. Especially considering how easy it is to recycle these days, there's no excuse

It is a very very selfish attitude. I can't abide people like him. I wish there were fines in place like in Scandinavian countries.

I have a neighbour like this, regular bin overflows.

Lacking basic intelligence...

Parents in law are a bit like this. FIL doesn't like "being told what to do" and thinks that being told where to put his empty tin cans is an infringement of his civil liberties or something. MIL sometimes fishes stuff out of the normal bin for recycling, but can't always be bothered either.

AngryAngryAngry does he not care that future generation will not have space for landfill? That most of the plastic shit he's disposing of ends up killing sea life? That it releases so much dangerous gas as it breaks down? Laziness at its worst

I thought it was just me!
I do carefully think about recycling and re-using and charity. i.e. Can someone one else use this garment? Can someone else use this pretty looking metal moneybox? Can someone else love this vase that i no longer need?

I like wildlife and would not want o harm any animals on land or sea. I have no kids but I have pets. I make sure no pesticides or chemicals are where my pets sit, wash, eat etc.

It is irresponsible of my DB. He has kids. He's teaching them that you just bin EVERYTHING because of laziness. He is 40 years old. He should know better.

I hate being wasteful. I only ever throw a biro away when it has absolutely run out of ink. This does mean that I own a lot of pens. I also use every last squeeze of toothpaste/shampoo etc.

I'm no eco warrior I just think it is common sense.

DB also disposes of plastic bags e.g. TESCOs, River Island, all plastic wrappings from food go in the black bag that he then takes to work and disposes of in the commercial waste bin. It is not a law now that businesses must recycle? I thought it was?!? Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

I have a bag of glass in the boot of my car that needs to go in a glass recycle bin which will probably happen tonight as i'm going to a supermarket.
I think it's a no-brainer to recycle glass. It's sooooo easy to do. Does everyone rinse the jar/bottle when you empty it and take it/them to the supermarket recycle container?
Does he just not like being told what to do? Does he resent authority?
