QUESTION FROM DH ABOUT SOAPNUTS

Here is a question from Mr Hippipotami (should that be hippipotheis?) about using soapnuts in the washing machine:

During the rinse cycle, how do you stop soapnuts from releasing 'soap' so clothes can be rinsed clean?

I have explained to him that the residue of soap is so small, it does not need to be rinsed off, and he replied : 'good thing too as with the soapnuts in the drum the rinse cycle is next to useless!'

That is true though isn't it - the soapnuts don't leave a residue like detergents which needs to be rinsed off?

I don't think you actually need the rinse cycle with soap nuts - or at least you can get away with a shorter one.

But that is what I dh is asking miffy - how come no more soap is released from the soapnuts during the rinse cycle, seeing as the soapnuts are still in the drum at that point?

Love the name by the way, huge miffy fans in this house!

TooTicky - I use a basic 30 degree cycle which incorporates a short rinse cycle.
Not sure I can switch it off.

Actually, I suppose some rinsing is necessary to rinse away the dirt.

We are in the early stages of soapnut usage. At the moment it is not too bad, and I am using an ecover stain remover on any marks.

I was widly enthusiastic about those laundry balls for all of 4 months, so we will see how I get on with the soapnuts.
