Steam mops on laminate floors...?

I appreciate this is probably a boring thread so thank you in advance to anyone who can help!

So we've just had laminate flooring fitted throughout our downstairs. The chap who laid the floor said we shouldn't use mops or steam mops to clean then as moisture would get in between the boards and they would warp and pop.

Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but what do you all use to clean your laminate floors? Are steam mops really that bad?

Yeah, I wouldn't use a steam mop.

We use one of those mops that you attach disposable floor wipes to and only use the steam mop for the tiled kitchen and bathrooms.

Ah OK thank you, I shall investigate! Smile

I got a steam mop about 2 months ago and have been happily using it mopping all my laminate flooring, which covers most of my home. No warping or blisters yet! I think if it was going to happen it would have by now!?! Does anyone know?
I love the steam mop by the way. Makes the place feel really clean.

No don't use a steam mop. It may take a long time but moisture and heat will distort it. Kion it takes longer than a couple of months to see damage.
I have a spray cleaner. Avoid getting it soaked. Damp mop.

We used a steam mop and then the corners started peeling. Hardly noticeable but I know it's there!! So now I use a Method wooden floor cleaner (almond scented and delicious!) And a dry squeegy mop type thing. It's perfect and really quick too so I do it more than once a month Grin

I've used a steam mop on my laminate for a few years. It's been fine.

Nope you shouldn't it'll ruin the floor Lakeland sell a good one with an attachable spray bottle. So you just spray and wipe- I love it! And you just wash the cloth wiper.
