Jobs lists?

Hey lovelies, so basically... I'm a mess, through depression I've let the house go and I need to get it back. Can I ask everyone if they have chores lists they follow daily? Where do they start? Also any tips on keeping on top I.e putting everything from a room that shouldn't be in that room in a basket and then sorting it. TIA x

I'm a big believer in doing things as I see them.
So, I keep a cloth and a spray in both bathrooms, and just do them whilst I'm in there, as an example.

I never leave a room without taking stuff out that doesn't belong in there - so, if I'm in the living room, when I come out I'll put anything that belongs upstairs on the bottom of the stairs and take stuff to the kitchen.
I tend to wash up bits, or put things in the dishwasher as I go along, when cooking or serving up, so it doesn't become a separate job to 'clear up after cooking'.
Does that help ?

@BackforGood Thank you, I'm going to get a basket for each room today so anything that's in the room that shouldn't be can automatically go in the baskets and be sorted at tidy time before bed. Then in the same basket I'm going to put a duster, bin bag etc to keep on top of it all ❤️ I will get myself sorted x

I allocate jobs to days
E.g.
Monday, change towels
Tuesday, clean bathroom
Wednesday Hoover up and down
Thursday , mop hard floors
Friday , change bedding

And so on

If you miss a day don't beat yourself up and worry about catching up. The day will come around again next week

@Bazzinga thank you, I've realised today, I need to take one step at a time. Get on top of my depression and anxiety and work one room at a time, even just a small area 🙏🏻 I will get through this and I will have the comfiest, most lovely home and life x

Also when I was at my worst I did stuff in the ad breaks.
Now if I'm feeling lazy I set a timer for 5,10 or 15 mins. Sometimes once you get going you carry on. Then if I have a break I time that too for 15-20mins so I don't lose an hour mumsnetting... Blush

@Bazzinga I did this today actually... I felt really low and couldn't get myself moving so I set myself a target. 10 minutes none stop to clear away stuff from living room, set the alarm, it went off and I worked for another 30 minutes, cleaned down the whole couch. Had an hour and then did another 20 minute challenge 👏🏻 it's definately the way forward THANK YOU XX

That's fantastic!
How are you feeling today?

mumof2sarah · 15/09/2017 13:04

I'm ok, feeling tired today and my anxiety is high with whats happening today, had both girls up in night not too good, little ones in school, big one I've had to force to stay at home (she hates missing school) and been to drs. I'm currently dithering cold but using tidying up as a way of keeping warm 🙈 had my little break and now set my half hour timer to go through the living room toy box and coffee table boxes 👏🏻 thank you x

My DD is off sick too! It's very easy to use a bad night as an excuse to do nothing, so well done for keeping on! You'll start to see a difference and hopefully that'll spur you on to do more. Keep going, even 15 mins a day will make a difference. Once you have an area clear, focus on keeping that one clear before tackling a new spot.

I've ended up doing so much 👏🏻 my living room looks comfy again. DD1 going to her dads for weekend, DD2 will be up for bed at 7 and my plan is to light the candles, put a movie on and relax 👏🏻👏🏻
